Bdx blend w/Chambourcin really adds some personality, very dark opaque ruby w/wild savage nose, forest, herbaceous, medicinal juxtaposed w/dank ripe black/red berry fruit, accented w/vanilla & spice. So Virginia - (could mistake this for Norton) very generous and right in yo face! Smooth rich viscous supple, gobs of fruit w/beautiful harmony & balance on palate. A very light color, garnets and glass.
The nose is spicy - almost like a curry of southern Spanish spices leading with Tarragon.
Looks may be deceiving! Huge meaty flavors, with dank forest floor, tabaco, pencil lead, licorice, granite, dusty cellar, and popsicle Stick tannins with lip chomping coriander acidity.
A cornucopia of expression. This is not to be missed. Definitely not a pedestrian wine.

A bit of a revelation domestically. Dank on the nose (weed gummies is how the winemaker describes it and he isn’t wrong), loaded with juicy fruit, tart acidity but more savory qualities to follow, underscored by a vegetal structure. — 8 years ago

Where do I start w/this juice: unbelievable complexity & density for the price! Started out absolutely savage w/dank forest floor, freshly turned Earth, mushroom, acrid creosote smoke, loam, camphor - some kind of hi-toned note, minerals and loads of berry fruit. The nose stank in the best possible way. Cerebral and infinitely enjoyable. Mellowed out over the night & smooth, med bodied/tannins w/hint of zingy acidity on tongue. — 6 years ago
