A wildly fresh bouquet of violets, lavender, cooling smoke and sugar-dusted blueberries wafts up as the 2021 Pessimist by DAOU unfolds in the glass. It's soft-textured yet energetic in style. Candied citrus hints accentuate cooling mineral tones and crisp wild berry fruits. The 2021 finishes with impressive length yet lightly structured. Violette Pastille and crunchy mineral tones slowly fade. (Eric Guido, Vinous, May 2023) — 2 years ago
So delicious. Honey apricot and warmth swirl in this incredible concoction — 2 months ago
Y’quem two days in a row? Pinch me! Turpentine/French basement comes across the nose. A flavor punch to the palate, a mouthful of fruit and a looong finish - stewed apricot, peaches, apple. A hint of woodsiness (cypress?) and a sweet creaminess like crème caramel. Amazing wine that frankly overshadowed the apple tart tatin dessert pairing. — 3 months ago
Still quite vibrant and buttery. Taste a lot of crème brûlée, nectarine, fig, lemon zest, and honeysuckle. Rich, well-balanced, and nice minerality for a satisfying finish. — 10 months ago

Opened prior to dinner and enjoyed over the course of a few hours. The 2005 Blanc pours a deep straw color with medium+ viscosity. On the nose, the wine is developing with powerful notes of ripe and tart orchard fruit: grapefruit, Meyer lemon, verbena, crème brûlée, honeysuckle, some pyrazines, a touch grassy, and warm wet rocky earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose where the fruit comes across a touch more round (vintage playing role) but the acid is definitely giving more than adequate lift. The finish is long. The texture is viscous. Drink now through 2035. — a month ago
