Welcoming the Holiday Season ⛄️❄️🎅🎁 Cheers!🥂
Round, viscous & gently waxy. Meyer slightly sour lemon, some lime zest, dry stone fruits-apricot lead, pineapple syrup, tropical melon, some green apple, slightly, overripe pear, orange peel, honeycomb-pot, marmalade fruit bits, melted caramel, coconut hues, pronounced salinity, dry herbs, mid white spice, crumbled chalk & volcanics, limestone marl, sea fossils, dry twig notes, white & Spring flowers with greens, very nice round acidity, well balanced, nicely layered, elegant, polished finish that lasts two-minutes and lands on spice & minerals on the long set.
Chassagne-Montrachet is amongst my favorite areas for its whites. — 4 months ago
Light medium caramel core , light copper rim. Quite mature , with spiced creme brûlée , saffron , burnt sugar , some crystallised orange peel , desiccated coconut . Slightly monochrome . On the palate this is quite light , with quite high acidity and a burnt caramel bitterness . Medium sweetness only , quite refreshing acidity . Slightly bitter orange caramel finish . Drink now qnd over the next few years , won’t improve . — 5 months ago
It’s hard to find fully shed classic Viura (white Rioja) anymore but old-school Lopez de Heredia clings to tradition. This wine, nearly 10 years old on release, is fascinating - aged to the point of considerable oxidation yet it retains its fruit ands acidity. Bruised apple, ripe pear, golden raisin, orange peel, flint, wet stones, and hay happily coexist with hazelnut, dried orange peel, coconut, baking spices ands more. The medium acidity is a firm foundation to a richly textured wine, Long finish too! — 7 months ago
Fantastic - had this while studying for the WSET III course. It has beautiful coconut, vanilla, raspberries, clove, leather… like breathing in the inside of a tall handsome cigar-smoking mysterious man’s warm jacket… wait, that won’t help me pass on the written part of the test! 🤣❤️ — a day ago

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of 90 minutes. The 2004 pours a deep garnet color with a near opaque core; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of ripe and tart mixed fruit: Blackberries, black cherry, dill, olives, leather, toasted coconut, some vanilla, dried green herbs and fine warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long. This is in a very lovely place. Drink now through 2044. — 10 months ago
