When in Rome do as the Romans. Currently on Bruny Island south of Hobart and enjoying the local bounty like Oysters and Fish and this lovely Pinot Noir from Pooley who are in the Coal River district. Lovely aromatics of dried red and black cherry with a whole bunch influence. A light to medium weight palate. — 6 months ago
What will always be some of my absolute favorite wines, Allemand’s 2013 Reynard is in a terrific place after sufficient aeration flaunting captivating and distinct Allemand aromas of dark fruits, violets, coal smoke, olive tapenade and a crushed rock minerality. The palate is deep, structured and harmonious with killer detail, finesse and elegance to balance its riveting intensity, power and verve. The texture of Allemand’s wines always stand out to me. Silky, vibrant and layered, it saturates the palate with all its glory and finely grained tannins before its lengthy mineral inflicted finish. Drink em young drink em old, and in between, Allemand is a rare miss. 🫶🏻 — 24 days ago
See previous Delectable notes in 2017 and 2019. Quite a rich Ruby red. Aromatics of black and blue fruits, a cranberry note with a tarry charcoal note on nose and palate. HH said coal dust and I totally agree. Steve Pannell is recognised as Australia’s premium maker of alternative varieties and this wine proves that. We made his Nebbiolo the champion wine of the Toowoomba Wine Show a couple of years ago. Have the last one in say 2 years time. — 2 months ago
Blackberry bramble, baked black cherry and plum, hints of maraschino, mint and menthol, bell pepper and geranium, cedar, tobacco, and bakers vanilla with whiffs of aged leather jacket on the nose. Blackberry, cherry, juicy raspberry, vanilla extract and weak black tea on the palate with a medium heavy body but a medium short finish. Overall a great wine for pumpkin pie brunch on Christmas morning (no it’s not too early). Merry Christmas! — 6 months ago
Medium Ruby in colour although a transparency to the colour. A varnishy red fruited nose - a very aromatic and attractive perfume. Earlier in its life the whole bunch influence poked out a little too much but generally a great balance with the pristine cool climate Coal River Valley fruit. See previous 2 notes here on Delectable. My last 2014 but I do have a 2013 which I will have next year when 10 years old. — 2 months ago
Nice, quite spicy! — 3 months ago
Color of tea. Nose of smoke, peat, sweet dates, spicy and strong alcohol, and more coal like peat. The nose is powerful. Taste is another hit of smoky peat. First sip is dry, however the sweetness surfaces later. Hidden note of marginal sweet apple. Aftertaste shows some baked apple and more smoky peat note. Clean, powerful, straightforward, and tasty. — 3 months ago
