Say hello to my first Texan wine.
Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.
Gorgeous nose of blueberries, cooked plums, violets, light oak, vanilla, wildflowers, light herbs, spices, tobacco and black pepper.
Full bodied and smooth with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate with blackberries, black currants, plums, cooked cherries, vinaigrette, coffee, light oak, vanilla, earth, licorice, spices and black pepper.
Tangy finish with fine grained tannins and peppercorn.
This is a nice surprise. This GSM blend is drinking very nicely now. Showing a great nose with a nice mouthfeel. Tangy and interesting. Soft and rich.
Good right out of the bottle and a good wine to have all by itself, or with food. Would be nice to revisit it in 3 years.
Spicy, fruit forward and interesting. A nice porch wine that I paired with cheeses and crackers.
A blend of 60% Mourvedre, 36% Syrah and 4% Grenache. Aged in French and American oak barrels for 18 months.
14% alcohol by volume.

A Mother’s Day treat last Sunday with Roast Lamb. An initial aroma of H2S which I sometimes get with Henschke reds. Took a while to blow off. Some Animale and vegetal notes amongst the raspberry, earth and spice. After a few hours aromas of ground coffee. However the wonderful supple palate overwhelmed any negativity from the nose. Sweet and earthy with those liquid velvet tannins - a product of ancient vines, the oldest of which are 160 years old. An inner core which will carry this through to the 2030s. I decided to open this as the exceptional 2016 has just been released for sale at the princely sum of $890AUD. I won’t be buying at that price but I’m sure they will sell the lot with or without the Chinese market. — 7 days ago
Everything you want from an oaky CA chard. Careful not to drink too much or every other wine will taste like water in comparison — 6 days ago
Notre Vue Estate Winery Sparkling Rosé 2019, Chalk Hill, California

Medium plus on the finish with limes.
This is a very enjoyable Vintage Sparkling wine from Chalk Hill. A very nice GSM blend. Nicely balanced and refreshing.
Shows nice balance between the fruits and earth notes, although earthier than I expected. Showing mild complexity, tangy and refreshing.
Would be nice to revisit it in 3 years.
I paired it with caviar, cheeses and crackers.
A blend of 52% Syrah, 32% Grenache and 16% Mourvedre. A very small production of only 180 cases.

Home Hill has become a rising star on the Australian Wine Show scene for the quality of their cool climate Pinot Noir. This wine had aromas of cherry and a little stemmy character. The palate was sweet with plums and black cherry. Very fluid and supple tannins - seamless. Medium weight palate and drinking well now. HH has a drinking window of 2017 to 2029. Cannot see it myself. My remaining 2 bottles will be gone in the next few years - just too delicious. Winner of the 2015 Jimmy Watson Trophy for the Best One Year old Dry Red at the Royal Melbourne Wine Show. From the most southerly vineyard in Australia. — 10 days ago
A great SB! Blend of 96% Sauv Blanc & 4% Sauv Gris adding an interesting dynamic to the wine & distinctive aromas. Medium lemon color, citrus, tropical & floral aromas. On the palate peach, melon, herb & earthy tones, well balanced with acidity, smooth yet robust on a long finish ending rich with wet stone character. Good value! A Fav!! Tried several times, very consistent!! — 18 hours ago
Dark ruby color. Aromas of pomegranate, graphite and beef. Cherries and cranberry on the pallet with touches of dried herbs and black pepper on the finish. For a relatively young wine, tannins were mild and silky. Very expressive and easy to drink. Really good value ($12 price.). Very well made. — 5 days ago
Blend of 47% Cab Sauv, 37% Malbec, 9% Petit Verdot & 7% Merlot, deep Ruby with aromas of dark fruits, herb, tobacco and floral notes. On the palate flavors of blackberry and blueberry fruit with licorice, cacao, leather and oak, well balanced. Fine ripe tannins, long finish ending with fruit, oak and spice. A pleasure to drink. Very nice! — 17 days ago
