A great experience tasting the 1997 kronos alongside the 2015 corison napa valley cab.
The winner for all but 1 at the table was the 1997 kronos. Deep red and blue fruits on the nose. Incredibly complex, with red and black cherry driven but fading fruits on the palate, leather, tobacco, spice, fine earthiness.. almost unnoticeable fine tannins but strong backbone of acid and a finish that lasted forever. Evolved over the night with the acid fading and the fruits surprisingly becoming more prominent.
The 2015 napa valley is no slouch either. Comparing to the kronos we got a wonderful fruit profile tending towards blueberries, medium tannins, and a pleasant baking spice note on the nose noticeably absent from the older wine. — 2 months ago
Muted fruits throughout but it didn't really matter...incredibly expressive wine throughout the evening.
Earthiness from the nose throughout to the unending finish with that hint of copper, intricate spice, soft tannins and bright balancing acidity.
Initially this showed so much tension and energy I was worried we had opened too early but after 45 minutes it was completely relaxed...beautiful throughout. — 3 months ago
