Château Léognan

Château Haut-Brion

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 1990

1990 vintage. This was the start to the weekly tasting day with the reps. A fave guest brought this in. Was summoned to open it immediately despite having just strolled in. Grabbed the Durand and pounced. Didn't get the opportunity to see the fill but the foil, label and cork were all pristine (too little cork saturation for a 3+decade-old bottle). Screamed château reconditioned. Opened but not decanted. Good color. Great nose immediately. Tasted after 15 mins and 45 mins open. Tasted around noon but bottle needed to have been opened at prior midnight. Showed pretty well, however, with the delicate intricacies this wine is renowned for. Would have presented better with more air time but you can only control so much. 01.29.25. — 3 days ago

Chateau Latour-Martillac

Pessac-Leognan Red Bordeaux Blend

Have had the 2009 vintage twice, in 2024 at a tasting and in early 2025. The first was the best of the tasting, and the second was a fine compliment to spring leg of lamb. dark fruit and smooth tannins. $68 when purchased in 2024. — 7 days ago

Château La Mission Haut-Brion

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 2007

No formal notes . Slightly lighter than the others , but still ruby , touch of garnet at the rim. Spicer and rounder red and dark fruits . Finer and more mineral more elegant on the palate . Quite elegant . Refined and elegant , mineral , good balance and acidity . This came across as lighter than the others , though with no lack of definition . Mineral , grafite tinged finish . Showing well this is probably going to have a slightly shorter life than the others , but is great for medium term drinking , over next 5-10 years perhaps . — 2 days ago

Château Haut-Bailly

Pessac-Léognan Grand Cru Classé Red Bordeaux Blend 2009

Still needs a lot of time 16 years on...maybe it will never reach its 100 point potential. Still an exceptional Bordeaux that improved markedly after 3 hours in the decanter. — 14 days ago

Chateau Bahans Haut-Brion

Pessac-Leognan Red Bordeaux Blend 1996

1996 vintage. Still good fruit, Pessac-Léognan spices. A very good second wine. Drinking well, but I believe it will hold for at least a decade. Serious length too. — 10 days ago

Château Olivier

Pessac-Léognan Blanc White Bordeaux Blend 2022

2022 vintage. The website didn't update for the 2022 vintage yet, but according to Jeff Leve (the Wine Cellar Insider often has more recent info than the official websites), it is a blend of 75% Sauvignon Blanc and 25% Sémillon. In any case, it is a beauty. Pineapple and white peach go hand in hand with floral and mineral aromas. It has a very round mouthfeel, but very fresh at the same time. Probably the finest value in Pessac-Léognan white Cru Classés these days. — 19 days ago
