#fourpack #dinnerclub opens up nicely; pairs well with aged sharp cheddar and best friends — a month ago
Foillard’s “Cuvée Corcelette” comes from the eponymous climate in Morgan where Jean’s holdings include vines over 80 years of age. This is a stunning wine that is so Foillard in style: fresh and deep.
Popped and poured; enjoyed over two days. Consistent over both days but seemed to round out a little more on Day 2. The wine pours a deep, hazy ruby with a near opaque core and an almost fuchsia rim; medium viscosity with light staining of the tears and some signs of sediment. On the nose, the wine is developing with sensational notes of macerated raspberries, red flowers, carrot juice, celery root, chanterelles, granitic earth and minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+ and so easy to love. Super balanced. Drink now and over the next 10+ years. — a month ago
Excellent 08. Chave and Allemand really nailed the difficult vintage in Northern Rhône, and 2008 Hermitage is showing beautifully tonight, fresh, elegant and detailed with aromas of juicy red berry fruit, bacon, roasted herbs and smoky minerals. While not an exceptionally deep and concentrated rendition in 2008, it’s really a considerable success, and it’s fully open, giving and ready to drink. — a month ago

Outstanding! Dark fruit(s)…Black Tea…Smoked Meats…Charcoal…And?…way too young to really tell. But, one thing is for sure..a definite cellar addition. — a month ago

Deep ruby in color; prunes, black cherries, and mushrooms on the nose; medium acidity; medium tannins; tastes like stewed plums, overripe blackberries, and wet gravel with a long finish. Tastes like there was a little Brettanomyces during the fermentation. Not enough to get a barnyard flavor or smell, but enough to make it earthy and mushroom-y. It's good, but not my favorite. A very interesting wine.
After some time in the glass, it has developed aromas of chocolate, prunes, and dried herbs. It tastes like cloves and cherries. The other flavors and aromas are so there, but more in balance now. Adding another point to my score. — 18 days ago
