Medium ruby garnet , with quite thin light garnet rim . Quite open and lively , with spicy hedgerow fruit , touches of tobacco, some floral hints too , quite charming . On the palate this is quite lean , with more of those red plum , raspberry notes , lightly herbal touches. However this fills out quite well on the mid palate . Quite fresh acidity , and delicate tannins . Reasonable herbal tinged red fruit finish . This is showing well , with a suave red fruit, herbal tinged personality . Primarily Chenin Blanc with small amounts of Semillon and Grenache Blanc blended in. Light golden color. Expensive aromas of stone fruit, white flowers, flint and honey. Flavors of cooked peaches, ripe apples, tangerine and a subtle mineral backbone. A touch of honey on the long and lingering finish. Slightly creamy/silky texture. (Lees aging?) Vibrant and zesty acidity. Rich and round with a great mouthfeel. Consistently solid vintage after vintage. Appreciate you adding this one to the tasting lineup, Chris B. Bordeaux Blend- Cabernet Sauvignon 70%, Cabernet Franc 15%, Merlot 15% 2018 was wet season and this impacted the normally bold style.
It is still full bodied - deep ruby red colour - but t’s a more lighter, elegant classic style, with blackcurmat red berry and cassis. So what is lost in power is replaced by a more refined and elegant wine.
