2005 vintage. Courtesy of @Bill Bender Menthol, blueberry skins, tobacco in the nose. Medium-bodied. Elegant, chocolate chip ice cream finish. Holding up really nicely and would seem to have another half-decade in this phase of life. — 4 years ago

Went to a tasting and they were featuring Chalk Hill, winery now owned by Bill Foley, of Foley Family Wines, who continues the traditions that Fred Furth, who founded CH in 1972. Had this ‘16 about a year ago. Rich deep straw color with aromas of stone and tropical fruits and citrus notes. On the palate ripe apple, sweet melon and lemon flavors with gentle vanilla toasty oak. Well balanced on lingering finish ending with oak and mineral notes. Aged well. Tasting Sample. — 8 years ago

Great cork & freshness, needs air to fully evaluate,
K&L notes as follows
This property was a Bill Blatch favorite-and as usual I have never visited the property which is located in Begadan. Château Vieux Robin is a family owned Cru Bourgeois estate located in Begadan at the far north of the Médoc. 5th generation owners Maryse and Didier Robin have made huge strides in terms of quality since they took over in 1988. Didier Robin, who learnt his trade at Château Clarke, is a skilled winemaker and now produces 4 different cuvées of ascending quality. There are only 18 hectares of vines and Vieux Robin is a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot and 10% Petit Verdot. Old school Bordeaux with 12% alcohol. Over 20 years old and still lively and fresh. No fancy oak here-just good Merlot and Cabernet.

Great bottle from @Bill Makens , and still just a baby! Even after close to an hour of being open, this was still large and tannic. The aromatics here were just gorgeous...spiced red and black fruit, a streak of sweet blue fruit down the middle. Graphite, herbs and stiff tannins on the palate. — 7 years ago

One of the first few vintages of Bill Sweat's and Donna Morris' Pinot Noir is still drinking quite well. Softened a bit and still has some complexity and is pleasant. — 8 years ago
Talk about sexy! And the wine was great as well. My first post after a bit of a hiatus from Delectable. In San Diego for a meeting and was able to sneak away for a few sips. Thanks so much to @Bill Bender for generously making time to host me at his lair, perched high above the city looking down on the harbor, for great friendship, conversation, and of course, killer juice. The initial notes of stewed plums and spice blew off after a bit of time in the decanter, revealing layers of deep, rich voluptuous fruit and earthy minerals. Almost surprisingly youthful and powerful at 15, this will continue to evolve for a long time. One of my favorite Burgs. Thanks again, Bill!!! — 9 years ago

William Harrison Vineyards and Winery, StHelena, cabernet sauvignon 2018. Bill Harrison has done a fantastic job with these grapes. The bouquet is driving home a black licorice and smoke! This is probably due to the Tufa soil in Saint Helena. Very nice bouquet. The palate is immediately flooded with big dark red and black fruit such as blackberry, fig, and black plum. Following the fruit, there are hints of oak and graphite. Then comes the spicy dark chocolate finish. However, there is just a hint of sharp aftertaste on the finish. However, it dissipates relatively quick. And best of all, the finish is also very dry!! I highly recommend this cab. — 4 years ago
The label was soiled when I received the order. I was immediately concerned regarding the contents. Happily, the wine was in pristine nick. Forest floor and cinnamon nose transitioned to the signature gnarly, textured dark fruit, smoke, and spice box presentation. I’m going to hold some of these Astons and see what happens. Intro’d to this by @Bill Bender, this has become my fave Cali pinot. Every vintage comes correct. — 5 years ago

vivid, medium ruby with amber rim; red cherry, damp earth, caramel, cloves; intense flavors, red cherry, cranberry, medium finish; light-medium body, medium+ tannins, fine grained tannin, 12.59% ABV; partnership between winemaker Gavin Chanin and Durell Vineyard owner Bill Price, spends 15 months in 36% new French oak; $60 — 7 years ago
Purchased not long ago by Bill Foley of Foley Family Wines, who will continue traditions that Fred Furth began in 1972. 2015 was a perfect year for Chard. Aromas of tropical fruits, spice and citrus. On the palate melon & apricot, tad creamy with some citrus zest and toasty oak notes. Smooth and lingering, well balanced, nice acidity, ending with fruit and spicy oak. A Fav! Good value! — 8 years ago
One of the best ever made??? @Bill Bender thank you. — 9 years ago
