This and the Allemand Cornas were 1 and 1A last night at the Berry poolside pig roast. Fully mature and not as tannic as many La La’s I’ve had. This strutted from the pop. Roast venison, black olive, menthol, sage and an undercurrent of bright red fruit to compliment the darker components. In a very very good place.

(Catching up from 6/23 - JB’s Pig Roast) just a half-step behind the Allemand, but a great wine and generous pull (as always) by @Bill Bender. The Syrahs ruled the evening at JB’s House of Burgundy.

Courtesy of @Bill Bender. Dark cherry, plum, coffee, spice, leather, and tea leaf. Tannins still firm to keep it all real. Might mature more over the next decade but I doubt it. Still, for a challenging vintage, this was gorgeous and perfectly suited for a pig roast.

@Christopher Hoel said it perfectly in the comments, "you can try and hate this wine all you want and it still blows you away".I Could not agree more. It is a full rich style with ample oak, but still has balance and intense northern Rhone character.
