A bit young. Bright, light red in color, crushed raspberry, cherries, dried flowers, dirt, maybe a mint/menthol note on the nose. Sharp on the palate. Traditional, and great. Bottle from Doug. — 5 days ago

Monprivato Cà d'Morissio Riserva Barolo Nebbiolo 1999

1999: Yeah. Outstanding 25-year old Barolo still an explosion of Nebbiolo flavor. Brick color but plenty of depth, with strawberry fruit well-balanced by typical leather and tar. A treat now, and wouldn’t wait any longer. — 6 months ago

Barolo Riserva Speciale Nebbiolo 1967

One hour in the decanter. Lots of sediment. Cork removed by a Durand and still in good condition. Umami and tar while it gained volume and mouthfeel in the glass over the next hour. Savory and delicious. 🤤 — a month ago

Gorgeous and spicy. Pure fruit- deep plum and roses and a hint of leather and marmalade. Very pretty and poised. Gorgeous — 4 months ago

Giacomo Conterno

Cascina Francia Barolo Nebbiolo 2006

This boy ready to drink! (Yes you could age it another freaking 20, but I lean more towards the fresher fun side of barolo.) Where as Mascarello is delicate and ethereal , Conterno is a decisive power house. And at the right moment can be sublime and uniquely aromatic. High toned with structured tannins it was a perfect wine for braised lamb necks and olives. Even Madi was blown away as the wine opened up and offered some serious cherry and velvety tar. And then there was the finish. Jesus. Lasting an eternity. Making you want another sip.
