Bright, nice tannns and finish, earthy, luscious mouthfeel. Curious how it might develop. — 6 years ago
Okay. Again the same dilemma. If a wine does not meet expectation is it basically bad (for me)? 🤔 because in life everything is relative, right? Any thoughts on puzzling matter??The wine was well balanced, dark red fruit flavors, polished, smooth tannins, good intensity and concentration, but limited length and lacking any meaningful complexity… Eight year old left bank Bordeaux. A fourth or fifth growth winery, maybe not, can’t remember for sure. Do remember what I paid though, $120. Definitely too much for what we experienced this evening…. as to our expectations. — 4 months ago
Consumed 2/2019. The bottle has a quote on it that I like. It says a pessimist is never disappointed. Made me giggle. So I bought it and tried it. Not bad. Alc. 15.5% by vol. — 6 years ago
This was the 1999 Barton Family Reserve zin. Not the big bad wolf. Couldn’t find this in the DB. Amazed it held up. Very soft for a zin, closer to a Pinot, plum, cloves, earth, apricot. — 6 years ago
An easy everyday Bordeaux as it’s affordable. Very fruit forward with spice but finish is lacking. — 4 years ago

Englishman Jonathan Maltus (of La Dome) Napa project. Nose shows blackcurrant, plum, cassis, pencil shavings, and clove with a herbaceous undertone. Juicy with medium to full body. Velvety tannins. Stylish, but lacking a bit of depth and complexity. — 4 days ago
