The name of the estate comes from "Ca' Pazzo", shown on ancient maps. Caparzo is owned by Elisabetta Gnudi Angelini, she also owns Altesino, her signature is on the label! Deep Ruby with berry fruit aromas with cedar, herbs and smoke, aged for 2 years on oak. On the palate sour cherry, plum & radpberry flavors, with leather, cacao, spice and tobacco notes. Lively acidity, fine slightly drying tannins, long ending with spicy herb oak finish. Nice, drinks well, decant! — 7 months ago
Quite similar colour to the Montosoli , with wider garnet rim than the Lume Spento . Quite dense and darker fruits , more plum , cherry and dried herbs, cedar . On the palate this has more density and extract , more tannin too . Darker fruits , dark cherry , plum , cedar and liquorice . More instense and structured than the others . Really quite intense and long on the palate . Again balanced fresh acidity , a more generous personality than the Montosoli perhaps , juicier , darker fruit. Needs another 5 years and will show well for a further 10-15. — a year ago

Really unfortunate to get a barrage of ads for unrelated products (video games) while trying to input this, @Delectablewine Delectablewine. I understand the need to monetize, but seriously, optimize your targeting a bit better than that. We expect a bit more intelligence from an app devoted to sharing and appreciating fine beverages. Overstuffing the free version--that many of us have been using for years--with unrelated ads to prod us towards paid premium only builds ill-will. I'm considering going back to handwritten wine journals à la Michael Broadbent, or even Instagram.
This baby Brunello is well-integrated, full of luscious dark cherry and leather notes. Medium finish. Should develop well over ten years. — 9 years ago

There’s a quiet intensity to Valdicava that makes its way into each & every sip.
🪽 On the label is the depiction of an archangel with sword raised, and wings open, standing as a symbol of Brunello—a wine shaped by patience, precision & deep respect for place—both protective & powerful, grounded in tradition yet shaped with its own energy.
⛰️ 🌊 Valdicava is located on the slopes of Montosoli (a prized ‘cru’), in one of the coolest sectors of the Brunello appellation, enjoying both cooling & warming factors from the radiant sun, to the forests of Monte Amiata, to the breezes off the Tyrrhenian Sea…
🌱 The growing environment is characterized by tension, which is reflected in this wine holding equal parts strength & finesse.
👁️ It is medium garnet in color with pronounced, layered notes of black cherry, black raspberry, baked plum, boysenberry, cedar, cardamom, nutmeg, cigar box, clove, sweet tobacco, black licorice, fennel, olive tapenade, balsamic, dried oregano, wet earth, leather & peat moss.
👄 The palate is dry, with velvety tannins, a vibrant acidity, and warming, though not intrusive, alcohol at 13.5% ABV & a lingering finish.
👌 It has a bold profile softened with age; it is supple & polished, held together with a firm acidity, giving lift to the kaleidoscope of dynamic aromas & flavors.

Vineyard is in Montosoli. Fully mature and at a very high level.
Beautiful dark cherry nose with earth and a more savory element. Dark fruit, tobacco, cedar and herbs on the palate. Silky tannins. Complex, long and balanced. Abv 13.5 Really shows how wonderful aged Sangiovese can be. Judy says”I like Italian wines”. — 4 years ago
Tried ‘14 & ‘15 together. The name of the estate comes from "Ca' Pazzo", shown on ancient maps. Caparzo is owned by Elisabetta Gnudi Angelini, she also owns Altesino. Deep Ruby with berry fruit aromas with cedar, herbs and smoke, aged for 2 years on oak. On the palate cherry, plum & cranberry flavors, with leather, cacao, spice and tobacco notes. Lively acidity, fine approachable tannins, long ending with spicy oak finish. ‘15 a bit better! — 6 years ago

2012. delicious but could’ve used another 10 years. — 5 months ago
Dark ruby red color. Aromas of violets, red fruit, wet earth and orange zest. Flavors of red cherry/currant/raspberry fruit, tobacco, lavender and sweet/holiday baking spices. Long lasting and very earthy medium-plus finish. Well balanced, fresh and quite elegant. Beautifully rustic. Great aging potential. A true “Baby Brunello!” Thanking Petey and Kasey for sharing this outstanding bottle! — 5 months ago
Cherry seed, raspberry leaf tea, earth, dust, bright acid. — 7 months ago
2015. 9.1+. Just too young. Same problem as with Altesino: takes forever to open up, very salty and tart, then thins out and fades. Very good producer. Going to stop opening the better 2015 Brunellos and will revisit. $50 on Delectable. — 6 years ago
Wonderful with family dinner, paired with sous vide prime tri tip. Tasted side by side with 2005 Xabo Quixote Cabernet Sauvignon. The Xabo seemed to have aged better, but both were excellent. — 9 years ago

Concur with VM: “Wild strawberries, roses, lavender and hints of flowery underbrush form a vividly fruity yet earthy bouquet as the 2018 Brunello di Montalcino opens in the glass. This is round, nearly juicy in character, with ripe red and black berries that cascade across a core of silty minerality. It leaves only a light coating of tannin while tapering off with a flourish of inner sweetness and floral tones, as nuances of licorice slowly fade. This may not be a classic Brunello from Altesino, but I can't argue with how incredibly delicious it is.” — 28 minutes ago
