Bodegas Beronia

Reserva Rioja Tempranillo Blend 2018

Blend of Tempranillo (95%), Graciano (4%) and Mazuelo (1%). Deep violet(almost black) color. Interesting aromas of black cherry/plum, dark chocolate, roasted nuts, earth and tobacco. The palate features red and black berry/plum flavors with additional notes of mocha, mushrooms, dusty herbs, white pepper and orange peel. Firm tannins and a long and lingering finish. Medium-plus bodied and plush. Excellent aging potential. Thanking Keno for bringing this excellent example of a traditional and well made Rioja! — 3 days ago

Gran Reserva 904 Rioja Tempranillo Graciano 2015

I was expecting this to be tight and tannic. Nope this was lush and silky smooth. Perfect for the Napa cab lover that wants to try something different. The potential for a few more points is there if you can wait. — 17 days ago

La Granja Nuestra Señora de Remelluri

Reserva Rioja Tempranillo Blend 2007

Classy & elegant with ripe black fruit, exotic spices, a touch of leather, a whiff of wilted violets and orange zest. A bit earthy & mineral, too though showing youthful freshness & energy.
Poised & very elegant on the palate with beautifully polished yet grilly tannins and juicy acidity. Layers of black fruit with wood shrimp seamlessly integrated. Nice volume & depth, terrific energy in the long finish. A classic Rioja reserva and the perfect wine for late fall.
Looking forward to tasting it over the next few years.

Viña Alberdi Reserva Rioja Tempranillo 2018

Exceptional quality for the price. Bright and deep ruby color. Intense aromas of vanilla, baking spices, black cherry/raspberry and fresh herbs. The same black fruit on the palate along with hints of caramel and chocolate. A nice and long finish. Tangy acidity. Beautiful balance. So much character. Time to stock up! — a month ago

Like the sour mouth watering effect of the wine on the palate. Already my last bottle of the case but this still has years of runway ahead. — 13 days ago

Dominio de Pingus

Flor de Pingus Ribera del Duero Tempranillo 2015

See previous note from March 2022. Very dark Ruby in colour- impenetrable. Blackberry, smoky notes. A rich full bodied dense palate with a tarry note. Dusty. Granular persistent tannins. Again, Thomas Matthew’s drinking window is way too early (to 2025). This wine will cruise to 2030 with ease. When you taste this wine you have a new appreciation of the allure of Tempranillo, in this case old vine Tempranillo from Ribera del Duero. Post Script: The next day - aniseed and a crushed ant note. — 17 days ago

Excellent producer. Still waiting on a couple of my vintages. We were at the property when this was in tank.

You have certainly visited many properties around the world as have my wife and I. Have not visited Pingus but do have a bottle or two of the main Cuvée resting in the cellar.
