Brut Champagne Rosé 2006

#AgedWineTuesday

Orange in color.

On the nose raspberries, citrus, strawberries, limes, green apples, yeast, spices and minerals.

Medium bodied with medium plus acidity and medium sized bubbles.

Dry on the palate with lemons, raspberries, strawberries, spices, earth, minerals, green apples, herbs and white pepper.

Nice finish with bitter herbs.

This 16 year old Rosé Champagne still feels very young and fresh. Not as much yeast /bread notes as I expected at this point.

Well balanced with a nice mouthfeel, and drinks very nicely now.

Needs an hour to open up properly, and better when not too cold.

Would be nice to revisit it in 5 years.

A great sipping wine, and good with food too. Spicy, rich and entertaining.

12.5% alcohol by volume.

92 points.

$400.

Special Club Grand Cru Brut Champagne Blend 2008

https://www.winemag.com/2021/02/22/special-club-champagne-guide/ Special Club champagnes are a small group of champagne houses actually called Club de Trésors. The article above explains a lot. This is an appley citrusy delicious version that needs more time. — 2 months ago

Brut 1er Cru Champagne Blend 2008

ginger candy, nougat, rye bread, and faint notes of numerous tropical & citrus fruits w apples & pears

palate as above but add minerality, limestone chalkiness, and tonic ~ as well as golden sultanas to the broad fruit profile

very forward and focused ~ slight mid palate ~ good length ~ delivers a wealth of complexity in a compact space

Cuvée de Réserve Brut 1er Cru Champagne Blend

The wines of Marc Hebrart are always punching above their weight class which made this a perfect choice to celebrate Holly reaching a new professional goal as she too, routinely exceeds expectations.

This bottle of “Cuvée de Réserve” was disgorged in October of 2019 and made exclusively with 1er Cru fruit from a variety of vineyards. As usually, predominately Pinot Noir with a dollop of Chardonnay. In the glass, it’s a deep straw color with a persistent mousse. On the nose, there are slightly oxidative notes of apples, brioche, meringue, and nuts. On the palate, the wine is dry and the bubbles are tiny and almost creamy. Confirming the apple fruit, but also with some peach, toasted nuts and and hit of lemons and minerals on the finish. Everything is very nicely balanced and satisfying. To me, this is a way more interesting alternative to Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label.

Mes Favorites Vieilles Vignes Mareuil Sur Ay Champagne Blend

Visited the Domaine today, and received this bottle as a gift with our order. Sorry to see Anne is leaving next month, to be replaced by an equally friendly lady named Elodie. This domaine is on fire with many 2018 based releases. The Special Club and Noces de Craie are superb. — 14 days ago
