Cult wine lovers rejoice! This Swiss Pinot noir has some Smokey and almost sweet characteristics on the nose, while the palate of black cherries and tobacco. The winemaker cold soaks the grapes prior to fermentation for maximum extraction of aroma and flavor.
Between the 3 wines, the transition from red to blue to black fruits, and development of smokey qualities epitomizes the different terroirs and techniques Pinot makers are using across the world. — 6 days ago
Incontestably from one of the top 5 red wine makers in Burgundy. Deep, powerful and muscular. Rich black and red fruits, graphite, hints of damp earth, lively and integrated acidity with a cool minerality. Finishes with excellent length, concentration and precision. 2 hour decant a must. — 2 years ago
3rd generation women wine makers. Owner was a ballerina and all wines are named for a pose. Natural wine. Lovely and tart. — 3 years ago
Who thinks of Rhône when speaking of Italian wine makers. Hmmm. No too many i assume. If you love Rhône the way i do, you need this in your collection. @tuaritawines Kill it with this masterpiece. A skunk seems to have hibernated in the bottle. Charcuterie and macerated cherry evolve to this silky mouthfeel. It doesn’t stop there with this 20-30 second finish. This ‘07 is in prime form and delivered on all notes. More please — 3 years ago
Forgot to take a photo of the Half Bottle at No. 19 Restaurant at The Darling at Broadbeach on the Gold Coast. This was the 2017 William Downie from Gippsland. Interested to try this as Gippsland is the home of Bass Phillip, one of the most accomplished makers of Pinot Noir in Australia as is William Downie. This was more beetroot and earthy root vegetables than red fruits with classic Burgundian sappiness. A classy effort although has some developing to do. — 3 years ago
Tried twice! From the makers of Sassicaia, Deep Ruby with red & black fruits and floral aromas of this 60% Cab Sauv 40% Merlot blend. On the palate flavors of cherry, currants and blackberry with cinnamon, licorice, cacao and earthy notes, well integrated. Fine tannins, approachable, a wine with a solid structure, elegant and smooth, long finish, great mouth feel ending with fruit and spicy oak. Will age well over next 5 years. Nice! — 8 months ago
Really surprising for a $25 bottle (this tastes like twice the price).
Nice fruit off the top that quickly turns full bodied… with just the right amount of oak (California wine makers could take note). I’m going out tomorrow to buy more! — 8 months ago
Bang on dance of flavors: tropical fruits and minerals. Food friendly and great on its own. Might be my favorite white at this price point. Ciu Ciu is one the best wine makers in Le Marche and some of their reds are age worthy and must be explored. #falerio #lemarche #marchigiani #centralitaly #ciuciu #whiteblend — 3 years ago
12 was a classic year - not too hot, not very wet. A good year for acid! So, the Franc leads with 41% followed closely by CS at 35%. This creates a very unique profile that is often not employed by Virginia wine makers – a dance of two cabs. We took this bottle to a restaurant for steak (aged New York strip) with a nice char. Indeed, spice edge from the franc and the tannin from the Sauv made for a powerful cleansing combo!! While food functional, I only give this a 9.1 because it lacked elegance in the mid-palate flavor profile. Of course I should have expected that from a classic vintage where the sugars weren’t elevated – creating an extra rich core. One bottle remains. — 4 years ago
