From the makers of Sassicaia, Deep Ruby with red & black fruits and floral aromas of this 60% Cab Sauv 40% Merlot blend. On the palate flavors of cherry, currants and blackberry with cinnamon, licorice, cacao and earthy notes, well integrated. Fine tannins, approachable, a wine with a solid structure, elegant and smooth, long finish, great mouth feel ending with fruit and spicy oak. Decant! Will age well over next 5 years. 2011 tasted April of 2021. While the flirtatious wines of Bordeaux will, with rare exceptions, betray my trust, I can always depend on Joseph Phelps to provide me with a solid bottle wine.
Year after year, no matter what the stresses of the vintage were, the wine makers at JP know how to produce perfectly balanced Cabs and Cab blends (but they’re not as successful with the non-Cab varietals).
This bottle of JP’s Cab is decade old, and it’s just hitting its stride. Lots of leather, rust, and a hint of mint on the nose. Ripe cherries and pomegranates on the front. The original velvety tannic balance has become just a wee bit tattered over the years. But this new-found roughness provides a youthful and boisterous counterpoint to the rest of the component that are entering a staid middle age (in wine years that is). It’s like your 45-year-old dad going wild and buying a Harley Davidson, then cruising off down the road. You say, “WTF! That’s is the way to live!” Lots of gravely high notes on the mid palate, but the old velvety tannins reassert themselves on the long finish. This is a damn lovely wine! — 4 months ago
This is a wonderful white blend from California. A great collaboration between a French and a Californian wine makers.
Showing citrus, lemons, apples, pears, minerals, herbs, spices, light earth and white pepper.
Medium bodied with medium acidity. Crisp and refreshing.
Dry on the palate with some light RS.
Nicely balanced with a nice mouthfeel. Shows nice complexity already. Will continue to age nicely in the next 5 years.
I paired it with a duck Pâté with cognac. Delicious.
A blend of Marsanne, Roussanne, Viognier and Picpoul Blanc.
13.5% alcohol by volume.

John Duval has been doing a lot of things right in the wine world for a long period of time, particularly in Australia. This wine exemplifies his craft. Bold, sublime and fruity with tannins starting to mellow . Could have done with another hour in the decanter to see it at its best.
But what he’s doing with Entity,(a third of the price!, plexus and the recently introduced Integro), this wine makers stellar reputation is going to just get better.
Buy his wine while you can and before everyone else finds out about it!!!! — 4 months ago
Our fav from Denner. They are world class Paso Rhone makers! And, wait until you try the Cabs! — 3 months ago
Costa verde cider company. A Napa guy paying Spanish cider makers to make cider. Very dry with good Spanish funk, but this is crushable. Tart green apples with a hard funky cheese. I could imagine the 6% abv could get you in trouble on this one. — 4 months ago
