Brief notes. Meaty aromas - very savoury. See previous notes re this being Bryan Martin’s private venture while still working at Clonakilla with their Shiraz Viognier being the benchmark in the country. Love this Northern Rhone style wine. I was expecting pepper but got more spice and charcuterie. — a year ago
Lighter in colour than I expected. Very fruity initial hit. Very pleasant and easy to drink. — 3 years ago
Continuing my theme of Australian cool climate Shiraz - this from the Canberra District. Considered by many to be as good as Clonakilla’s flagship Shiraz Viognier. Nose of pepper and spice with red fruits. On the palate cherry and spice with earthy mineral notes finishing with persistent fine Tannins. A very good cool climate Australian Shiraz in the mould of a Saint Joseph or Cote Rotie. NB Delectable this is Clonakilla Syrah. Not offered in your choices. — 4 years ago
Delectable - this was the Viognier not the Nouveau Viognier which Is offered in the database. Pale lemon - bright and clean. Aromatics of orange blossom with faint ginger notes. Medium weight with medium plus palate intensity. Again, a good winter white. A bit hot for a white at 14.5% ABV but it works when it’s cold. The wine was barrel fermented with a year on lees in French Oak which has been totally absorbed into the wine. An excellent new World Viognier. Have the last one in 2024. — 6 months ago
xmas drinks. does not taste like shiraz. floral, mineral and herby but degrades after a while. quite smooth and complex — 2 years ago
From the difficult wet 2011 vintage in South Australia - at least the whites fared better than the reds. Pale gold in colour, light in body but persistent in flavour with good length despite the vintage. The palate has put on weight over the years. A delicious and technically correct Clare Valley Riesling - no Kerosene. Interesting to compare with the Crawford River (2013) and the Clonakilla (2010). — 3 years ago
Quite fulsome and dense for a 15 year old Rhone - but it is Jaboulet La Chapelle. Probably opened too early - I only have one other. Ripe black fruits, some smoky notes, a touch of pepper. A little square sided on the full bodied palate. A Syrah with excellent potential but not worth the $417AUD I paid to be honest. One would be better off with 3 bottles of Clonakilla Shiraz/Viognier and some change in your pocket. — a year ago
One of best wines this year - noir with complexity -
love the fruity jam like textures that remind me of a clonakilla Shiraz lovely wine . — 3 years ago
Musky and mineral notes. Lime rather than lemon on nose and palate with grapefruit. The shrill acidity of 8 years ago now diminished but still high at 10 years of age. Quite tangy and refreshing. The Canberra District has proven to be very suitable for Riesling with producers like Helm and Clonakilla. — 3 years ago

A gorgeous perfume and palate - just a gorgeous wine. The Viognier giving a noticeable apricot note together with dried black cherry and a touch of cinnamon. Medium to full bodied finishing with supple tannins. This has been the benchmark for Shiraz Viognier in Australia for as long as I can remember. — 4 months ago
