For me a better drink than it was necessarily a Sangiovese: properly ripe fruit aromas of pepper and bush berries, well weighted palate. Soft (!) tannins to close. On the blind I thought it was Yarra Valley Shiraz. — 9 years ago
Absolutely delicious. Benchmark Regnie. #beaujolais — 9 years ago
public service announcement, gushing review ahead > 2012 vintage, this is stupidly good for its humble appellation. Still vibrant when so many of its contemporaries are looking tired, this has such wonderful liveliness and zip, allied with some secondary complexity and satisfying length, I had to go " WOW". Just bloody delicious. And Bravo to the producer and also the importer @eurocentric Benchmark wine — 9 years ago
2015 Mornington peninsula Pinot. Made By Patrick Sullivan. "natural", fresh, clean (!) good. 👍🍷 — 9 years ago
Highly entertaining while lacking the usual Clonakilla race and zip. Nonetheless an xlnt effort from a hot, challenging vintage. — 9 years ago
Served blind: had to be 83,85,88. Had slightly swingeing acid so 83. Check. Quite chunky, old school style. I thought Morey. This was pleasant enough but by no means a great Amoureuses — 9 years ago
He's back! Post the Torbreck apocalypse, David Powell has come storming back w this cracking Barossa/Eden Shiraz blend: this is an athlete of a wine, powerfully built, yet w great definition and muscle tone. Beautifully walks the high wire, balancing bright berries w savoury complexity. Reminds me very much of the very best of The Struie that he made and is a cracking good wine. Chapeau M. Powell! 🎩 — 9 years ago
Quite plump on the nose. Correct ripeness. Palate surprisingly tight and while having sneaky length and intensity, doesn't deliver much satisfaction through either complexity or vitality. — 9 years ago
Served blind: I thought 98 or 2002. For me it didn't quite have the 2002 "pop" that I look for in fruit or acid lift. That said, a solid effort which might just be in a slightly In between difficult period. — 9 years ago

The Dave & Callum Powell 2014 range of Barossa reds are compelling . This GSM blend has such power, complexity, and sheer drinkability that I had almost finished the bottle before starting on this note. The bouquet and palate are a deliciously complex melange of dark red and black fruits melding beautifully with notes of gravel, leather and with a menthol fresh lift. Like all Powells wines, this is remarkably light on its feet for its size. Ideal heart starter/warmer for the cooler times upon us. — 9 years ago
