It is time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday.
This 6 year old Merlot from Washington State is still drinking very nicely.
Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish /brick rim.
Full bodied with medium acidity.
Dry and very fruity on the palate with nice complexity, and soft tannins on the finish.
Showing blackberries, tobacco, chocolates, coffee, black pepper, dates, earth, cooked plums, raisins, figs and herbs.
Good right out of the bottle, and better with airtime.
Good by itself as a sipping wine. Very tasty and affordable. A good party wine too.
A blend of Merlot with a touch of Syrah.
14.5% alcohol by volume.

Some historical stuff I found online,
The Chateau Caronne Ste. Gemme property has been making wine since the French Revolution and has existed since the mid 1600's. Now in the hands of the Nony family, who is related to the Borie family of multi-chateau fame, the estate is in excellent hands.
The vines average about thirty years of age and are located in the southwest corner of Saint Julien. The grapes are fermented in cement vats where they also undergo malolactic fermentation. From there they're aged in one third new French oak for one year before bottling. — 6 days ago
It’s Chardonnay! I don’t know why this App does this. It’s medium bodied Chardonnay, pleasant, melon, pears, at the right temp, good with Spanish hard cheeses & crackers. — 17 days ago
