Titolo Aglianico del Vulture 2018

Smokey volcanic aromas. BlackBerry, black cherry, charcoal, and smoke on the palate. Very good! Paired great with hamburgers and hot dogs! — 4 days ago

Cantina di Venosa

Verbo Basilicata Aglianico Rosato 2019

Peach candy, flowers, and sea breeze on the nose. Ripe and candied on the palate with strawberries and peaches but enough acidity to keep the balance. Little hint of dried herbs on the finish. Tasty stuff, especially if your in the mood for a pink wine that's on the fuller, ripe side. — 24 days ago

Gricos Aglianico del Vulture 2017

Delectable Wine
9.0

The 2017 Gricos is a fresh-styled Aglianico del Vulture. Dusty dried florals, black cherries and crushed stone minerality lift from the glass. It’s silky-smooth yet spry, mixing sweet tannin with nervous acidity, creating mouthwatering tension, as hints of tobacco and licorice linger. $18.00 (Eric Guido, Vinous, June 2021) — 5 days ago

Grifalco di Lucania

Damaschito Aglianico del Vulture Aglianico 2015

This wine is 100% Aglianico, from a 2-hectar plot with 80-year-old vines outside the village of Maschito. The wine is dark purple and a bit cloudy; a hauting minerality of cholrine-alkalinity and bloody notes of iron (although soil minerals don’t necessarily end up in the grape, it is interesting to note that the soil is vulcanic and rich in iron and magnesium), also in the nose is blackcurrant, dark cherries, and vanilla (15 months on oak). On the palate the wine is fruit-driven and has a prominent structure of high acids and very coarse teeth-clinging tannins, the mid-palate is weak, and the finish spicy, green, “liquoricy” and the iron-blood notes lingers for a few seconds. This is no Taurasi, but an interesting and tasty wine. — 23 days ago

Camerlengo Rapolla

Juiell Rosé Blend 2018

Watermelon, strawberry, peach, slightly confectionary nose. Acid is not bad but but falls a little flat on the mid palate and finish. Above average rosé. — 15 days ago

8.9

Dark ruby coloration. Some translucency along the rim. On the nose, cherry, prune, tobacco and minerals/chalk. On the palate, full body, plum, tart cherry, tobacco, and minerals have a strong presence throughout. Long finish that culminates in long lasting prune and tobacco. $20 at b-21. — a month ago
