Cloudy pale yellow, v. expressive & aromatic but not on the fruit side.
Summer meadow, dried grass, bruised apples, fresh Mandarine peel. Funky, wild, so fresh & juicy!
On the palate this is equally funky, a bit cidery yet has brilliant balance. Great flow & energy, a touch of tannins, a spicy finish.
Definitely unorthodox yet sooo drinkable. The Seckinger brothers have done it again!
Love it or hate it! — 3 days ago
Tighter & darker than the 2012, more closed & brooding. Turned earth, leather, a bit of tobacco leaf. The dark fruit is hidden beneath, along tin some dried orange peel VA.
On the palate this is tight as well, with finely grained tannins and zippy acidity. But there’s depth here and energy too.
This needs more time or serious decanting, unlike the ‘12.
Need to revisit tomorrow.
Next day: still dark & brooding on the nose - dark cherry, malty notes, wood polish.
On the palate this has lifted - bright cherry, cranberry acidity, a hint of kirsch, some dark cocoa, beef roast, yunnan tea like tannins.
I miss the focus though.
Not bad, still prefer the 2012! — a month ago
Night out as a couple. Very nice! — 25 days ago
Absolutely an amazing wine! Thank you @Ron R for recommending this! I am experiencing so many elements at the same time. Reminisce of an aged Chenin Blanc where you get creaminess almost wax cheese rind and honey. Picking up an almond sticky bun. Not really acidity but unique freshness of lemon, peaches & yellow apples. Golden hay in color, Med+ body w/ nice long finish. Drinking this w/ a nice chill presents some nice acidity.
Hard not to make a comparison (sigh) to something I paid a lot more for and enjoyed...not so much! Love the balance and 13.5 alc. — 14 days ago
Smokey notes of caramel, oak, and tobacco. Well balanced and full bodied with a medium finish. Big fruit sporting currants, cherry, plum, strawberry, and raspberry. Picked up a few bottles about 3 years ago at a tasting and very glad I’ve got a couple more to drink. — a month ago
