Pure cherry & plum notes with a very satisfying smooth finish on palate. Tasting really good right now. — 2 months ago

Amavi Cellars

Walla Walla Valley Syrah 2016

Inky in color with a short purple rim. Not showing much age.

Fruity nose of black fruits with light wood, spices, coffee, earth, dark chocolates, tobacco leaf, herbs, peppercorn, light vegetables and black pepper.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with black plums, cooked cherries, black currants, licorice, light wood, spices, coffee, tobacco, dark chocolates, earth, vegetables, light tar and peppercorn.

Nice length on the finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.

This 9 year old Syrah from Washington State is drinking very nicely now, and will continue to do so in the next few years.

Rich and fruit forward. Nicely balanced and entertaining with a nice mouthfeel. Very complex at this point.

Good right out of the bottle and better after 30 minutes of airtime.

Wine Enthusiasts 90 points.

I had this vintage 6 years ago, and it is drinking so much better now. It was well worth the wait.

Good by itself as a sipping wine or with food.

A blend of 88% Syrah and 12% Grenache. Aged in (16% new) French Oak barrels.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

91 points.

Blind tasting lunch 2009 theme. Nose with strong sugar and sweetness impression that we find on the round and fairly fat palate, a little bit of acidity to balnce it but a finish with some alcool and residual sugar, clearly identified as F. Cotat. 88-89

Dark ruby in color with a short purple rim.

Full-bodied and elegant, with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with nice complexity and a soft mouthfeel.

Long finish with round tannins and tangy cherries.

This is a delicious Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley. Rich and elegant. Tangy and interesting.

Good right out of the bottle, and so much better after 3 hours of airtime.

This 7 year old Cabernet Sauvignon based Bordeaux blend from Napa Valley is already drinking beautifully, and will continue to age nicely in the next 10 to 15 years. Has good potential to become a 95+ point wine.

Wine Spectator 93 points. Wine Advocate 94 points.

A great sipping wine that will also pair nicely with a big piece of steak.

A blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Malbec and 5% Petit Verdot. Aged in (78% new) French Oak barrels for 20 months.

15.2% alcohol by volume.

Silverado Vineyards

Estate Grown Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2022

Ming L
9.0

Sourced from the home Silverado vineyard in Stags Leap and Mt George vineyard in Coombsville, this is a young and energetic Bordeaux blend with 88% Cab.

Nose shows ripe black fruits, cedar, subtle baking spices, and hint of graphite. Full body with fresh acidity. The fruits are a bit angular on the palate with fine tannins. Needs a bit more time to polish up. Good value for an estate bottling.

Domaine Jean-Louis Chave

Hermitage Syrah 1989

Not to be outdone, the 1989 Chave Hermitage Rouge showed more brambles than the ’88 along with other desiccated blue and black fruits. Dried flowers, beef, blood, leather and mushrooms. Every time I have the pleasure of drinking old Chave, I’m reminded that these wines have so much character and there is a reason they are so adored. Lovely with grilled lamb and Moroccan spices. Drink now through 2040. — 2 years ago

Château Pichon-Longueville Baron

Baron de Pichon-Longueville Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 2000

2000 vintage. Decanted and tasted over the course of 1.5 hours. Expected amount of sed. Chunky, unresolved nose. Medium body. Still too youthful. Would try to give it another 7-10 years if possible. Initial tree branches/greenery dipping into morning fresh water morphed into classic graphite/lead pencil after 45 mins in the decanter. There was a slight metallic streak on the finish that appeared about 20 minutes in and still hadn't dissipated after 1.5 hours. More nimble than the og bad boys from this estate ('86, '88, '89, '90) and a bit less weighty. Mostly positives along with a few (mostly) minor quibblings. A ways to go, tho, before hitting the summit this estate established four decades ago. 9.24.23. — 3 years ago
