What a treat for sure! This 1982 Premier Grand Cru, 1st growth Chateau-Margaux is a beautiful medium red ruby with a good amount of bricking. On the nose: Red fruits and sweet age perfume jump from the glass followed by scents of tobacco, crème brûlée, and mint-mushroom! Old Bordeaux flavors do not disappoint: a soft and velvety feel, red fruits continue to standout although more subtle than the nose with cedar and smoked meat notes followed by a long tobacco-espresso finish. — 4 years ago
Very Droin in style, crisp and tight, fresh and mineral, with just enough density to make it a very good 1st growth, drinks like a charm.
Très beau premier cru de Droin, frais et mineral, serré et vif, avec juste assez de densité et texture pour en faire une bouteille qui se siffle en un rien de temps. 90-91

1st of the 16’s really big fruit and spice for estate bottling. Glad we have 17 more bottles!! — 8 years ago
5th wine . medium deep ruby , touch more garnet . Slightly wider rim . Quite cool and mineral again , more grafite with some cool cassis , blackberry. On the palate this is slightly lighter in body , leaner perhaps but very elegant , fresh and quite saline, tobacco , grafite and herbal tinges on the finish . Reasonable saline length. Fine lightly grippy tannins , good acidity . This is showing quite well though would perhaps benefit from a few more years . Better in 3-5 years and drink well a further 7- 10 . The next day this actually shows a little better , elegant and refined, nothing showy , very Lafite , so I’m glad I guessed this correctly ! Overall this was a very interesting tasting , there is nothing showy or remarkable about the 2006 1st growths , they are quite classic and also showing quite a lot of structure still , with good freshness though they perhaps lack a little stuffing and intensity . They were quite even quality wise, with the high points being the Mouton (though the Lafite improved the following day to upgrade its score and draw level ) and the low point being a relatively disappointing Margaux . The vintage will continue to improve over the next 5 perhaps 10 years in general , though they may always just lack a little density and excitement . — 3 months ago

Medium bodied with smooth finish! Yummy, easy wine - 1st time at Oakwood Club — 5 years ago
A milestone birthday requires some fun wines! 1st bottle to polish off is a 2008 Marcassin chard with Hog Island oysters, butter poached lobster, and shrimp.
Double decant for fine cloudy sediment. An irresistible medium gold color.. On the nose: nectarines, pineapple, vanilla toast, lemon, and crushed rocks. Taste: so gooood after 12 years. A slightly creamy wine with carmalized pear, wet stones, lemon peel, and a mineral peach long finish with good acidity. — 6 years ago

1st bottle was bad.. musty cork flavor... next 3 perfect — 8 years ago

1st vintage from the Kronos vineyard. What a treat!
Decant for sediment(lots of sediment). A splendid medium ruby red color with bricking. On the nose: dried red fruit, smoked meat, worn leather, coffee grounds, dried herbs, truffles. Taste: silky, and so fresh for its age with sour cherry, loamy soil, black tea, graphite, herbs, and a nice pepper-earth medium plus finish. YUM!!!! Sure on the downside, but still perfectly drinkable. — 4 months ago

Tasted blind. Medium deep garnet ruby and medium garnet ruby rim . Quite cool and restrained , again lots of grafite and mineral , dark fruits . This is quite deep and dark spicy cassis , blackberry and sea spray , saline . Quite dense and robust on the palate again , lots of fine but ripe tannins. Very long , dense , cassis , cedar grafite saline finish . This is a complete and great example of 2005 , great balance and enormous length , the longest of all on show here. Drinkable now , but surely it’s best days are in the future , wait another 5 -10 years , will last well a further 20 - 25 if not more . The apex of 2005 ? For me this had to be the Latour , and an archetypal example of Latour no less . 1st place and the gold medal . — 2 months ago
