HURRICANE PARTY

Pale salmon in color.

Light nose of citrus, strawberries, earth, light herbs and minerals.

Medium plus in body with medium plus acidity and small bubbles.

Dry on the palate with raspberries, light cherries, limes, green apples, light grapefruits, minerals and herbs.

Long finish with limes and light almonds.

This is a delicious Rosé Champagne. Nicely balanced with a nice mouthfeel.

This 16 year old is showing nice complexity at this point. Feels still young and very fresh. Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years.

I've had this vintage a few times before, and it is very consistent.

A delicious Champagne that’s perfect for sipping on its own. Will also pair nicely with fresh seafood.

Bodegas Alto Moncayo

Veraton Garnacha 2016

A joint venture of Jorge Ordonez, Bodegas Borsao and others, in conjunction with Chris Ringland. Dark Ruby with dark berry fruit aromas, from 40+ year old vines and aged for 16 months in oak. On the palate flavors of ripe plum and black fruits with cacao, spice and smoky notes. Soft tannins, vivid acidity ending with gentle oak spice on the long finish. Wines from Spain are superb and at great values, especially Bodegas Alto Moncayo wines. — 4 years ago

Ridge Vineyards

Lytton Springs Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel Blend 2006

Cork giving out but why not after 19 years! Wine is escaping to fresh beauty with a little wet dog age that I like.
Holding her space in 2025
80% Zin, 16% Petite Syrah, 4% Carignane
14.7% is reigning it in on this varietal and well done! Doesn’t feel fire breathing at all 👏

This 16’ is just gorgeous, and the most Bordeaux like out of all the vintages I have tasted.

Mortlach

16 Year-Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky

A not-so-wee dram for my birthday reminds me how Mortlach separates from the herd. Transcendent light-bodied balance yet a finish that goes on in breath long after swallow. A poetic emotional drink. — 3 years ago

Doubleback

Walla Walla Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

Zoom event with Drew Bledsoe and Josh McDaniels. Vertical from ‘07, ‘14, ‘15, ‘16, ‘17, ‘17 estate, and ‘18. All were exceptionally smooth and silky with good depth of fruit. Notes on the ‘18: 90% CS, 5% Malbec, 5% Merlot. Least favorite of the night. Still a good wine but perhaps a bit too young, or just different enough from the others that I liked ones with a bit more age. This wine had a little more density than the others and perhaps a little more earth and graphite coming through that masked the fruit. It still had the classic doubleback elegance of the others but I felt we were not seeing this wine’s true expression. It only had about 1 hour in the glass and perhaps I need to pull another bottle, decant for a few hours and see what it does. — 4 years ago

@Mark Turner I double decant these. How was the ‘07? And go Pats!

@Eric Urbani I thought the ‘07 was drinking great. I had several bottles over the years and it has lost some of its bravado. It was a very smooth, elegant wine but I plan to drink the remainder in my cellar over the next 2-3 years. I don’t see it holding up for another 10.

I love this vintage of Dom Perignon. Complex and interesting. I've had this vintage it a few times before, and it is very consistent.

Good by itself as a sipping wine, or with food. Good stuff.

What a great Left Bank Bordeaux from the great 2005 vintage this is.

This 16 year old is Drinking very nicely now. Showing great complexity with a great mouth feel. Powerful and rich.

Thank you John for sharing.

Needs 90 minutes to open up properly. Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years.

Loved smelling on it for a long time.
