This is a solid quaffable #pinotage at an affordable price. I’ve blind tasted it about three times in flights with other reds from around the world and it has performed well. #southafricanwine #southafrica — 6 years ago

#pinotage blend. Needs to decant a little. #southafricanwine — 6 years ago
Interesting wine from #southafricanwine #southafrica but #pinotage is an invader grape and it permiates through this blend too much in my opinion. And yet interesting invention and has freshness and texture — 7 years ago
Always a favorite. #pinotage #southafrica — 8 years ago
Still completely alive. #1978 #stellenbosch #fleurducap #southafricanwine #cabernertsauvignon and obviously some #pinotage peel out burnt tires and coffee and ash. Good fruit. Well balanced. Long finish. A gem. — 9 years ago
So far, probably my favorite red in South Africa. Always goes well with steak. #southafrica #red #pinotage — 10 years ago
What a finessed #Pinotage! Love it's ripe blackberries, licorice & cracked peppercorns. #SouthAfrica #HemelEnAarde — 10 years ago

My second bottle of this #malbec #pinotage #cinsault blend - still like it a lot for the price. Blackberry jam, cassis, slight leather, cocoa aroma; less of the nail polish aroma once it airs out. Bitter cocoa, coffee notes along with the fruit and lush acidity and neat tannins fading into a long finish. #wsjwineclub — 6 years ago
@Delectable Wine this is the 2015 Rijk’s Cape Winemakers Guild Pinotage.
Our first time every at the Cape Winemakers Guild Auction and we will make sure to come back! (Tasting was on 9/28/18).
Thirty-fifth wine at the Friday Auction Tasting for the Cape Winemakers Guild and the twenty-third red wine. This is made up of 100% Pinotage by Pierre Wahl with fruit from Tulbagh. Aged for 22 months in a mix of new and second fill French oak barrels. Only 60 cases produced with 40 being auctioned in 2018.
Dark purplish ruby red. Some classic Pinotage notes on the nose with some smoky and savory elements, dark berries, purple flowers and slightly burnt rubber. Medium plus tannins (7/10) and full bodied. Big palate full of blackberries, black cherries, cedar and baking spices. Long and lingering palate with great mouthfeel. Drink till 2030.
$$$$ - Tasted at the Cape Winemakers Auction. Average bid at auction was R9,670.00 ($113.75 a bottle) a case. Highest bid was R12,600.00 ($148.21 a bottle) and lowest bid was R7,800.00 ($91.75 a bottle).

Awesome Pinotage here! Blackberry, plum and dark chocolate. Strong tannins with a spicy finish. I would definitely buy this again and again! Cheers! #pinotage #grootconstantia — 9 years ago
Catching up on my postings with @Delectable Wine this #pinotage was really good. Rich and smooth on the palate. Coffee dominates, but some caramel sweetness on the finish. Enjoyed while catching up on #suits episodes. Stands alone well. Give it a go. — 10 years ago

I really enjoy the QPR of many different varietals and blends that Spier produces. This #shiraz #pinotage blend pours dark purple. After it opens up a bit, earthy, smoky, laid-back bramble fruit and slight petrol and rubber notes from the Pinotage. Striking acidity, blue/black fruit, some bitter chocolate and coffee with well-behaved tannins all swirled together; clearly a fantastic BBQ wine.

Disappointing. Smells like smoked meat and mezcal. Literally. Iodine and ripe plums. Weird. #pinotage #bordeauxblend #southafricanwine — 6 years ago

Once it’s opened up, this dark #malbec #pinotage #cinsault blend presents a deep well of blackberry and cassis fruit aromas plus a slight nail polish scent which I find pleasant as it’s subtle. Less fruit than you expect on the palate, some cocoa and bitter coffee flavors towards the end trailed by soft light tannins; juicy acidity throughout. Yum! #wsjwineclub — 6 years ago
Always my favorite pilotage. #red #pinotage #southafrica — 9 years ago
You find yourself engulfed in smoked venison jerky. Once that blows off, plums, raspberries, rooibos tea, and tar sneak into the mix. Lots of umami stuff happening. It reminds me of the brown sauce you can't stop eating at your local take-out Chinese restaurant. Your mouth keeps salivating. I'm surprised at the softer tannic structure. I was expecting to have my face ripped off, but the tannins show restrain. Acid levels are reminiscent of blood oranges. 14.5% alcohol hides. Pleasantly surprised. #pinotage — 9 years ago
Basrline wine and spirits wine tasting. @momma_leslie strongly dislikes this. Smells like "a plastic bandaid and Watkins carbolic salve". I appreciated it a bit more. Huge amounts of human interaction goes into making this wine. Individual grapes are picked from the bunches to be pressed. Dark maroon with a pinkish rim. Smokey. Our first #pinotage We will have to try others. Do not hesitate to give it a try for yourself. Rated 7.9 strictly because Leslie didn't care for it. — 10 years ago

I’m not such a #pinotage fan but #neilellis is a great producer and this is a great expression. #southafricanwine — 4 years ago
