xmas 2024 wine 6 — 2 months ago
So lovely! Opened after working at Yeringberg showing the 2022 wines (which were amazing!). So delicate and velvety with rich tertiary characters. Fruit still vibrant showing dark berries. Awesome! — 5 months ago
This wine was lost in my cellar for a couple of years until I found it a few days ago. As a 2016 I probably would have drunk this a year or two ago. Now at 9 years of age it is a wonderful Chardonnay with more complexity and intensity. More on the citric than stone fruit side. A good example of mature Yarra Valley Chardonnay. — 4 days ago
My last bottle of 2015 Applejack Pinot Noir. Sweet red fruits - lacked the complexity I was expecting at 10 years of age. The following night more savoury, earthy, mushroom like notes making the wine more complex and delicious. My early notes years ago, showing overt whole bunch influence have integrated into the overall wine. — 2 months ago
Perfect balance of mineral, malo, creamy peach yogurt — 4 months ago
Oak aromas are more restrained and integrated in this Henk Vyd, fruit is a tad richer and deeper, but this also shows an excellent balancing acidity, rich fruit, long, lingering finish, I marginally prefer this to the Willowlake, but both are excellent Yarra Valley Chardonnays!! — 7 days ago
Delightful as always — 20 days ago
It’s been years since I tasted this wine. Indeed, I was drinking the stuff made by Dr Bailey Carrodus before he passed. I’m pleased to note that the current winemaker hasn’t stepped off the reservation.
Nose is brambly and dense. Notes of figs, dates and cedar waft from the glass. Not as dense on the mid-palate as i recall, but well balanced, with no overbearing oak. Texture on the palate invokes a crunchy mouthfeel. This will benefit from more cellaring, but drinking very well right now.
Thanks to @Bob McDonald for reminding me how much I have missed this wine. — 4 months ago

Bright fruit & good acidity. Light but quite nice with pork tenderloin for the price ($17). — 7 days ago
