Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

Blue and black fruits. A lot of density and terroir. This took about 5 hours decanting and in the glass to fully open up.

Excellent pairing for steak. Robust wine that turned super smooth.

Went head to head with ‘15 Caymus SS and IMO beat it out handily.

Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2011

Big & bold. Ripe dark fruit, spice, etc…Evolved yet still developing. Really loved the complex tertiary flavors starting to appear. One complaint: WHOPPING 14.7%! — a month ago

Dry Estate Vineyard Riesling 2020

Much prefer this 2020 vintage over 2021 and slightly over 2022. 2020 created a very floral and moderately fruit-forward nose that is still dry with high-minus acidity. Minerality typical of FLX Riesling is there. Finishes shorter than I like. — 2 months ago

Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

2014 vintage. Excellent fill and cork. Not decanted. Tasted after 1.25 hours open. The best red I’ve ever tasted from Paul Hobbs (and have had approx 125 samples over the years-including the high-end bleep). In a really admirable place currently between integration and balance, fruit and tannins. Will it improve? Doubtful. Can it hold steady for a spell? Definitely. Not exactly the biggest fan of what consists of To Kalon/Tokalon juice/interpretation these days vs the 60’s/70’s/80’s/earlyish 90’s but this was phenomenal. Medium body with respectable sed. A mullet wine…all business up front with a party on the back palate. Color me surprised and impressed. 11.8.24. — a month ago

I guess the emperor does alright occasionally.

Goldrock Estate Pinot Noir 2020

Deep purple in the glass, with aromas of dark cherry, vanilla, spices, and earthy notes. The palate reveals layers of oak and ripe red and blackberry fruits. Opulent, with a medium body and soft tannins, it embodies a New World style—a Pinot Noir for Cabernet lovers. The ABV is on the higher side, and it could benefit from additional aging. — 2 months ago
