Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe

La Crau Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2012

Opened prior to dinner; enjoyed over several hours. The 2012 pours a light ruby with a transparent core; medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of red brambles, red rope licorice, leather, red flowers and purple flowers, and stony minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium acid. Confirming the notes from the nose the finish is medium+. Textbook, Grenache forward CdP that’s showing quite beautifully. Drink now through 2032. — 3 days ago

Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2015

Brief notes. Mellow and very balanced in this medium bodied palate - no point in further cellaring. In fact, so balanced that nothing stands out but it is highly savoury and richly textured. I think I preferred this wine when it was younger and vibrant. I see Jancis’s drinking window was 2019 to 2026. — a month ago

Bosquet des Papes

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2019

Dark ruby in color with a reddish rim.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with nice complexity and mouthfeel.

Showing red and black fruits with wood, chocolates, tobacco leaf, herbs, peppercorn, earth and spices.

Long finish with round tannins and cooked cherries.

This is a delicious Grenache blend from Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Rich and extracted. Powerful and interesting. Nicely balanced with a nice mouthfeel. Complex and entertaining.

Already showing beautifully, and will continue to age nicely in the next 7 to 10 years.

Good by itself as a sipping wine or with food.

A blend of 75% Grenache, 12% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre and a touch of Vaccarèse, Counoise and Cinsault. Aged in large French oak barrels for 16 months.

15% alcohol by volume.

92 points.

$50.

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhône Blend 2022

RWOTN. Approachable now and quite delicious. Rich kirsch and and raspberry fruit, some wafty garrigue earthy notes. Rich and silky on entry, so delicious, but at the finish a bit of alcohol (15.5%) pooks though. — a month ago

@Doug Powers - Yep. Unfortunately 15-16 is the new normal for CDP these days. I bought this only because my dad has always loved CDP and I wanted him to try a Clos des Papes. I was amazed I liked it so much since I’m a bit dogmatic about alc levels.

Grenache. But they pick too late. They haven't recovered from the Parker era
