Taken to Via Carota in the West Village. Decanted for 8 hours in the hotel room. Deep tawny color. Opaque. Amazing nose that screams old Nebbiolo. Notes of sweet red and black cherries,red rose petals, anise, old wooden desk, black soil and a hint of tar. Super rich in the mouth. Coats the palate. One of the best Barolos I’ve ever had. At peak yet still youthful. This can easily go for another 20 years. Bravo. — 2 years ago

Broc Cellars
Cassia Santa Barbara County Grenache 2013
This still has a HUGE nose for a natural Broc, tart cherries explode out of the glass, with notes of pomegranate and fresh cut grass. Hardly any bricking, with sustained color and still a prominent acidity on the nose, with subtle florals and pepper. The palate is smooth, medium bodied, with hints of Burch and prominent ripe red fruits, with a slight raspberry breath on the finish. Kind of short, but still solid for 10 years old. 100 % Falanghina from single vineyard in Irpinia, Campania.
Grown in Calcareous clay soil between 300 and 440 meters elevation.
70 % fermented in stainless steel and 30 % partial fermentation in small oak barrels.
Bright, straw golden green colour.
White flowers, herbs, ripe apples and pineapple. It has a great textural richness on the finish.
It spends 8 months resting on its lees.
Quintodecimo also produces Greco di Tufo and Fiano di Avellino……also equally impressive. — a month ago
