Aged very well! Very fine burgundian, gruner-influenced nose (ripe papaya, melon, pineapple with some apple and quince, hints of white pepper and perroleum). More Riesling-dominant on the palate with stonefruit and again petroleum. Medium plus bodied with only 12,5% abv, long minerality driven afterhall. — 8 years ago
Not as excited as others (@Roel van der Burg 😘) but really good and solid drink with lots of minerals — 8 years ago

Second stop in Sonoma with Andrew Berge of Spell Estate, La Pitchoune and Tiny House to name a few. Last red from La Pitchoune is their Black Label VDK from the Van der Kamp Vineyard on Sonoma Mountain. Aged for 12 months in 25% new French oak barrels and then aged for an additional 11 months in 50% new French oak. That is a total of 23 months in French oak and only 48 cases produced.
Deep ruby red with purple core and garnet edges. Rounded and lush nose with dark cherries, raspberries and a little bit of cola. Well balanced and integrated acidity (6.5/10) with a medium plus body. Light spices on the palate like cinnamon and nutmeg followed up by rich raspberries and a bit of gravel in the long finish. Drink till 2030. $$$ — 8 years ago

Nice spice levels. Very pleasant to drink — 9 years ago

This lovely Siduri Pinot Noir is very dark-colored, big, rich, old vine mountain fruit (my recollection is that this is an old “head-pruned” Pinot vineyard, at elevation??), I can see criticism that it’s not really “Pinot Noir-like”, but like the older St. Innocent “Freedom Hill” Pinot Noirs, these wines last a long time, so even if it’s too “big”, it’s rich, intense and complex!! But, you wouldn’t ever guess, “blind”, that this was a red Burgundy. I happen to like it, as it seems youthful and fresh, with further aging potential. — 6 months ago
