Gamble Family Vineyards

Heart Block Yountville Sauvignon Blanc 2018

Unique in many ways. Aromatics and acidity were upfront with a mouth coating wave of wet stone and white flowers. This wine was so rich and balanced- you could drink glass after glass and not be bored. A true joy to drink and share. Very well made. — 3 years ago

Caves Coopératives de Donnas

Donnas Valle d'Aoste Nebbiolo Blend 2018

Delectable Wine
9.3

The 2018 Donnas opens slowly in the glass with a pretty display of violets and rose, a whiff of exotic spice, wet stone and wild berries. It’s silky and round in texture, with a dense and savory wave of red and black fruits that saturate the senses. Inner florals and anise linger over a twang of sour citrus, as this tapers off lightly structured yet long, leaving a hint of plum and a peppery flourish. Lovers of cool-climate Nebbiolo will love this Valle d’Aosta take on the variety. (Eric Guido, Vinous, June 2022)

Kirchspiel Großes Gewächs Riesling 2018

So much more open than my last btl, and stunning. Notes from 2 hrs open. Loads of lemon and soft underripe peach, leesy notes, and then wave after wave of minerality. On the palate: fantastic acidity; lemon peel, which is so dense. Lemon oil and loads of minerality. So long on the finish. Just amazing, but still so primary. Wow. — 3 years ago

Waitrose. Excellent. Zesty lime notes, but then with undertones of peach and tropical fruits. — 2 years ago

Le More Romagna Sangiovese Superiore 2019

Delectable Wine
8.9

The 2019 Sangiovese Superiore Le More explodes from the glass with a perfumed wave of chalk dust, wild berries, shavings of cedar and pine. It’s soft and energetic, with mineral-tinged plums, cherries and savory herbal tones. The 2019 tapers off with a sour twang of citrus and inner rose. $14.00 (Eric Guido, Vinous, November 2021) — 3 years ago

Domaine Le Colombier

Cuvée G Vacqueyras Grenache/Syrah Blend 2016

Deep magenta hues.

A wave of tobacco soaked cinnamon scent on the nose.

Forward kick of black pepper spice, culminating in a dark cherry mid palate, and ending with a welcome coupling of plum and star anise.

Its good. It’s fruity. It’s spicy. It’s dry. It’s not focused.
