At Flying Goat, the goal is to produce unpretentious, playful wines while retaining a serious quality focus and commitment to a purity of expression from single-vineyard sites such as the Solomon Hills Vineyard, Bien Nacido Vineyard, Rancho Santa Rosa, to name a few.
This intention is reinforced by everything from the whimsical labels (Flying Goat, Goat Bubbles, YNOT), to the critical acclaim Flying Goat Cellars has garnered for its impressive wines, to the impeccably balanced and delicious Pinot Noir and vintage, traditional method sparkling wines.
This 2016 blanc de noirs sparkler — made with Pinot Noir hailing from the Bien Nacido Vineyard — is medium gold in appearance, with a fine and creamy mousse, and fresh notes of just-ripe yellow apple, pear, white peach, lemon zest, citrus blossom, biscuit, toast, brioche, toasted almond, and marzipan. It has a lingering, elegant finish.

Slightly buttery. Crisp and lightly sweet. Pretty good. Lighter than expected. — 6 years ago
Golden appearance, high acidity, oaky, tropical fruits — 6 years ago
Very good quality with a solid expression of its provenance and a good length. Bruised apples, yeast, bread, iodine and a dry chalkiness puts this right where it belongs a good concentration on the palate which could last longer. As all serious sherries it is performing well above its price which takes you the question that everyone ask themselves, why don’t I drink more sherry? — 7 years ago

Delightful. Great, light, flavorful Pinot - drinking really well. Paired w/ tasty toasted goat cheese crostini + light spinach salad w/ balsamic/mustard. I think Ojai pinots are a treat & great value. — 5 years ago
I loved this 2017 Merlot Cabernet as a great every day drinking wine. $5.99 at Trader Joe’s - TJ wine expert Adam recommended. — 6 years ago

N: Salty dried butterscotch/caramel, Seashore, old boats, rot in the best of ways.
P: Sweet but no… upon entry, the impression is of something unctuous and sweet, for a bit of a second, then DRY. Yellow and gold flowers/melon,
heady at 16°. Great w baby artichokes and Parm and pan seared Branzino.
Varnish lacquer,

Great wine. The reviews from 2014 do not matter. Who drinks Barolo after five years. Wine is now complex, leather tobacco, great tannins and body. Pleasant long finish. Great wine! — 6 years ago
