Drank the 1982 on 11 March, 2022, ie 40 years on. Still sufficient life left in it, lovely amber colour and subtle flavours, still a superb drink! — 4 years ago
From the extraordinary Jean Louis Chave, superb complexity and depth, smoked bacon, sweet red fruits, hints of tobacco, smokey herbs and a gorgeous floral finish. — 7 years ago
The 1988 d'Yquem is almost identical to the bottle I tasted in 2016. This is almost Barsac-like in style on the nose with scents of barley sugar, complemented by marmalade and mandarin, fresh and vibrant with a palpable sense of energy. The palate is medium-bodied with a viscous texture but it is not, and has never been, as unctuous as either the 1989 or 1990. However, what the 1988 does possess is a surfeit of vitality and tension. There are layers of blood orange, quince and marmalade towards the finish that as the aromatics suggest, comes across as quite Barsac in style. Superb. Tasted at Château Batailley. Excellent! Smooth and polished. Super long and showing more maturity than I was expecting. All the classic notes in a superb showing. — 7 months ago
Using a library photo from Delectable. The vintage I had was 2014 which was a brilliant White Burgundy vintage. The nose showing struck match sulphides - also mineral with flint. Notes of fresh herbs with white flowers. Palate is restrained but very precise. The first white from the Burgundy dinner in Sydney on August 7. Just catching up with notes now. The food match with steamed Murray Cod was superb. — 9 months ago
What a great showing. Confectionery nose. Superb minerality. So complex. Apricot and peach skin. Just staggering minerality. Palate is bright and full of energy and so pure. Terrific acidity. Really long and clings to the palate. A brilliant showing. Wonderful texture. Outrageous. — 5 years ago
Superb Wine still rich, complex and alive.. — 7 years ago
Pours a deep cherry with a tawny rim. Nose of an old cedar chest of drawers, blueberry, blackcurrant and earth - very polished. Those notes from the nose translate onto the medium + bodied palate - reflecting the excellent vintage. It’s easy to get swept up with Grand Cru Burgundy but don’t forget about aged classed growth Bordeaux of quality like this - just superb. Went well with Roast Beef for Sunday Lunch. — 9 months ago
Quite primary but really expressive for a young L’Ermitage Blanc from Chave. Juicy pear, nectarine and mandarins orange fruit that pairs well with notes of hazelnuts, candle wax and creamy brown spice. Unctuous, hedonistic and dense on the palate with pear, blood orange, quince and nectarine favors. The unctuous nature is kept in check with mineral notes if warm stones and graphite. There is superb density to the fruit and spice. The finish is long with orchard fruit tones and vibrant mineral notes. Dynamite to drink currently but has such potential for increased complexity and depth. Really needs 10 more years in the cellar before the next evaluation. The best young Chave Blanc I have tasted and I have been fortunate to try them young since the 1997 vintage. — 4 years ago

Elegance in a bottle. Bright, pale straw color, with big bubbles. Nutty, ripe peach, lemon and chalk aromas. Grapefruit, lemon and a mineral finish. Superb!
