Still fresh, slightly sweet, black fruit, plums, tobacco and a nice finish. A good wine for burger and fries lunch! — a month ago
With a 15 minute decant. A lot less sweet notes compared to the 1998. Big and deep with red and purple fruit flavors, tobacco, cedar, earth. Length is medium as is the finish. The wines are not very complex reducing their allure. Balance is good and it’s clear the wine is very well made but not worth in my estimation a four digit price — 3 months ago
Quite excellent. Dry, brioche, candies fruit, great length and finish. — 4 months ago
Decanted for 60 minutes needs 90. An acceptable lunch wine with a nose of stewed fruit with flavors of pencil shavings, tobacco, leather and black olives. Medium length and finish and lacking in complexity. But it did go quite well with the steak salad lunch! — 14 days ago
On its way down. Popped and poured. Good balance but length is not great nor is complexity. Lack of secondary and tertiary flavors made this wine uninteresting. Flavors of prune, cherry and leather. Made for a reasonable lunch wine — 2 months ago
I don’t think I have ever had a bottle that so accurately reflected faded grandeur than this one. Well past it’s peak this wine has lush plum fruit, a superb balance but lacking in length and finish. It is likely quite asymmetric to its market prices. Went well with steak, — 4 months ago
Hedonistic in the extreme the wine is a marvelous blend of cassis, red and black fruits, plum, smoke smooth and velvety in the extreme. Was decanted for 90 minutes. Astoundingly still very approachable! — a month ago
Terrific Chardonnay! Superbly made great reductive flintiness with notes of lemon, grapefruit and peach. Took about an hour to open up. Likely to be better 4-5 years from now! Immediately ordered a half case given white burg prices! — 2 months ago
The Pingus 1998 is an extraordinarily well made wine. It does offer a certain sweetness with flavors of earth, tobacco and spice with a good length, finish and a brilliant balance. While not exactly my style the quality comes through — 3 months ago

This is the Barton and Guestiet Richebourg that Delectable does not recognize. Surprisingly elegant but with flavors of dark chocolate! Probably over the hill — 14 days ago
