Faded vanilla to rose blossom aroma. Sour cherry, stewed raspberry/rhubarb attack. Coffee, allspice resolution. Generous at first then closed up, as expected. After an hour the acid had totally fallen out of balance. Tasted like an acid add gone wrong on a very ripe vintage, but I suppose it could have been an arrested ML fermentation. Perplexing as it was disappointing.

A real treat. Wonderfully complex and intense nose which went through a few phases. Nose was driven by truffle, earth, flowers, spice, and a touch of fruit. The palate was dynamic and smooth with a balanced and soft structure. The palate lacked the complexity of the nose but was surly showing its pedigree. 1999 is an extraordinary vintage in Barolo. Unfortunately, we committed infanticide tonight, even though we decanted it for 6 hours. Way too early to drink, very high acidity, will be very long lived. Wait at least 15-20 years. Can't really score this, would be unfair
