Very classy yet pent up. Drinks pretty good now, but was opened way in advance of tasting. Reminded me of Heitz Martha's Vineyard a bit. Blackberries, medicinal herb, lavender, and fine tannins.

Imagine ripe blackberries bleeding into the wet ground - very earthy. One of my favorites

Going vertical w/ '13. It's been a night of mid-9's. Terroir is everything in this bottle - earthy, well balanced with great structure.

What an iconic wine. One could even say it was the catalyst in changing the Italian wine scene. Unfortunately I don't think this wine was showing its best today so a little bit hard to rate but none the less... Blackcurrant, raspberry, raspberry leaf, herbaceous and a smidge of oak. Impressively structured wine as one would expect, but wasn't forbidding.

Baked cherry, wild blueberry, milk chocolate, currant, black tea, musky leather shop, with hints of sage bushes, chopped mint, cocoa powder, and fresh baked biscuits on the nose. Medium-heavy dark red with fresh blackberry, tart black cherry, juicy plum, dark chocolate, on the palate with hints of woodiness, slight vegetal notes with smoothed out medium-grip tannins on the finish. Soft and smooth and well balanced
