Terrific nose. Raspberry coulis, granite and smoke. Feral and floral and a terrific sense of wild. Palate is bright and juicy with lovely mineral grip and granitic lift. Refined and elegant like the best 2016’s. Big structure this time but also top finesse. Best to wait 2-3 years. — 5 days ago

Love this vintage for this. Ripe and such a clean nose. Waxey and mineral, some iodine, saline, very precise. A bit closed. I have with will open. Palate is deep, rich and ripe with terrific cut. Very juicy and so complex with absolutely terrific mouthfeel and such precision yet force. Wow. This is drinking incredibly well. Such texture and mid palate to finish though with mineral energy and freshness. — 22 days ago

Full body and rich but not overpowering. Soft mid palate and fresh tannis at the finish. Excellent value for the price point. — 8 days ago

"Les Granits" Saint Joseph Syrah 2012

Straw color with aromas of stone and tropical fruits. The palate shows peach, lemon with crisp apple and mineral notes. This medium-body wine has good balance with integrated acidity and finishes smooth, a touch nutty on the end. Very Nice! — 17 hours ago

Les Cessieux Saint-Joseph Syrah 2016

Quite the stunner... high acid, lead, wild raspberries. Saint Joseph, 50-100 year old vines, Carbonic maceration. Definitely stands out vs it’s peers in the Northern Rhône. — 18 days ago

A great wine. Love this estate’s classic, feral, gamey St. Jo’s. Wild and pretty nose. Very floral, gamey and with nice lift but also very broad. Awesome. Superb aromas. Palate is ripe and meaty, with velvety and sweet tannins and lovely freshness and acidity. Terrifically put together abs very compact with exquisitely pure fruit. Finishes long and peppery with granitic crunch. Wonderful. — 22 days ago

Such a reliably over-performing for the price wine. Floral, stoney, lemon and white peach...big round body balanced with razor sharp acid. — 3 days ago

Domaine Jean-Louis Chave

Circa J.L. Chave Sélection Saint-Joseph Roussanne 2016

Gorgeous Easter Wine. Honeysuckle and white wild flowers jumping out of the glass, smelling lush and sweet. It’s dry though, high levels of acid but nothing chalky. Instead, tropical and stone fruits, peaches, a bit of salt yet very floral. Soft and smooth, not too creamy. — 3 days ago

Nicely aged St Joseph. Animalistic but still well balanced on its acids and fruit. Will probably not get better than this. — 19 days ago

Wow! Side by side with 2014 JP, and 2013 Mt Brave. Everyone feels this is outclassing the other two. — 11 days ago

@David T I am! Part Minnetonka and part Rochester where we live now. Great place. Moved away for 6 years but had to come back.
You think the ‘16 Phelps cab may be better than the ‘13? I’m planning to pick up a bunch, but can’t find at any of my usual providers... May have to suck it up and get from JP directly.

Thanks! That’s awesome. I was thinking I’d join back up as we used to be members. Much appreciated. If you’re ever in your old stomping grounds give me a holler. Always looking for an excuse to pull out great wine!
