St. Agrestis

Château Dassault

St. Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2015

Fantastic wine, really enjoyed this one. The nose is stewed blackberries, plum, tobacco, baking spice, cedar wood and raisin. This is powerful juice and it tastes rich and almost chewy with the myriad of flavours balancing the tannins and acidity. The palate is ripe dark cherries, light smokey oak, vanilla and winter spices. It has a long elegant fruit driven finish which I liked. This may not suit the purists as alcohol is high and the style is right up in your business but I wish there were more Bordeaux offerings at affordable price points that really make you feel wow, that was just a great reflection of the region that can be enjoyed now, without taking a second mortgage or waiting until a time you may never see to enjoy. Worth grabbing a bottle. — 5 days ago

Château Gruaud Larose

Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 1982

Scarlet tawny and opaque. Great, complex nose offering notes of black cherries, herbal tobacco leaf and freshly cut Cuban cigar, cedar wood and a hint of menthol. Nicely balanced in the mouth. Gave it 5 hours of air in a decanter and patience was rewarded with a great aged Bordeaux experience. Great stuff. Paired with a 92 Dominus it was interesting to find how much these wines resemble each other. — 5 days ago

Château Fombrauge

Saint-Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2015

2018 vintage. With 58,6 hectares under vine this is the largest Grand Cru Classé in Saint-Emilion. It was bought in 1999 by Bernard Magrez, leading to a major improvement of the wines. Lately they seem to have toned down the oak handling a bit and this 2018 is the best Fombrauge I have ever tasted. Beautiful nose with red and black fruit, subtle spices with the oak providing a classy cedary touch. Full-bodied and layered, but with more finesse than ever, perfectly integrated oak and a long finish, this is terrific value at less than 25 euros. — 4 days ago

Allen Brothers Ribcap wine.

2004 not the best Bordeaux vintage but, certainly not bad. What was disappointing was how not ready this was to drink. Normally, a lesser than grand vintage 14 years in bottle Cos would have blossomed better. Good but, not what I was hoping for with my Ribcap. Still showing a fair amount of primary characteristics & a touch astringent.

It will be 5-8 years before I open another.

Truly one of the more grand Chateaus in Bordeaux.

En Combe Saint-Véran Chardonnay 2017

Wow this wine is singing and it’s just a baby!! This is probably the most exciting Wine I’ve had in a while, meaning that it jumped out of the glass and kind of cast a spell on us. Classic white burgundy profile: apples, pears, rocks and some chamomile tea but also with this touch of lightning that makes it magic! perfect with homemade chicken Pho but wd be perfect with many things 🌟❤️ — 8 days ago

Château Léoville-Las Cases

Grand Vin de Leoville du Marquis de las Cases Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 2004

#6 on WS top 100 wines of 2007.

2 hour decant (decent chunky sediment). A dazzling dark ruby red color. On the nose: perfumed nose, black fruit, menthol, earthy, green veggie, graphite. Taste: a smooth and silky wine with dark fruit, spice, earthy, and a cherry pencil lead medium plus slightly tannic finish. Still just a little young and slightly austere...it will be better with a few more years on it. But with the decant, it will be enjoyed over the next couple hours this Saturday night! Cheers!

Fun bottle. Shed the fruit, turn up the scent and taste of a nice cigar, cedar wood, coffee, and scorched earth. Grippy finish. Still fairly tannic. — 3 days ago

Château Pavie Macquin

Saint-Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2014

I’ve seen mixed reviews on this wine and vintage; must admit I was weary about opening it. My bottle has been properly cellared for several years and decanted for forty minutes before drinking. Fortunately the wine is excellent in my opinion; very rich, luscious and decadent. Complex and evolving with a long finish. Cheers and a shame for those bad bottles but it’s all part of the love of wine... — 22 days ago
