Temperance Hill Vineyard Pinot Noir 2014

The nose is expansive and jumps from the glass with red and black fruit. The palate shows the same with revealing pepper and herbs adding complexity to the fruit. — 8 days ago

Château Tronquoy-Lalande

Saint-Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend 2008

Very nice Bordeaux with perfect level of bottle age for this vintage. Lots of dark berry fruit on the nose. Palate is full and especially with some air smoothens out with a nice long finish. Slightly disjointed tannins but still nice. — 4 days ago

Delicious and holding strong. Not quite as grand as the previous btl a handful of years ago, but a wonderful Cos that still has life and pleasure to give. — 6 days ago

On the Lawn at Tanglewood this evening with the Boston Pops Orchestra. Our Pops conductor Keith Lockhart is leading a live-to-picture performance of Star Wars: A New Hope, a showing of the classic 1977 film, with the Orchestra performing Mr. Williams’ iconic score.
For live-to-picture productions, the orchestra performs the entire movie score in real time as the film unspools. (Vocals, dialogue and effects are isolated from the original music track.)
Generally we get to here Star Wars scores a couple times per season here at Tanglewood, but tonight we get a chance to hear them with the backdrop of the movie (Episode IV) that launched a franchise, to say the least!

I celebrated another full trip around the sun, since my coming into this world, earlier this week. Tonight my wife, some dear friends and me will be enjoying some enticing wines along with our movie night. So notes...maybe, but I'll try!

Pretty surprised by the reviews on this! I felt like it was a wonderful fruity, highly mineral white Burg. Really great QPR. Would buy again! — 10 hours ago

Served blind to a few of us by @Weston Eidson . My initial, and final call, of this was ‘14-‘15 Napa Cab. Honestly, hard to put it anywhere else. A more ripe and rich version with an overwhelming amount of baking spices, bruised dark fruits and fig on the nose. Low acidity and an overall “soft” profile...tannic, but not overly so. Nutmeg, cocoa shavings, baked mixed berry pie and just a hint of dust/chalkiness to it. Super approachable now. Julien Fayard makes wonderful wines and I think this, along with his Matthew Wallace wines, are the most enjoyable young. — 7 days ago

Served blind as well, this one was in the Napa cab wheelhouse from start to finish. My guess was around 2012-13 St Helena Cab, as it already seems to be gaining quite a bit of complexity. Nose of sweet blackberry and spice. Entry is full-bodied blackberry, graphite, middle starting to gain some pepper. Still fairly tannic finish but softer than I imagined. Nice wine @Weston Eidson

Cherries and baking spices, but tasted flat, at least at first. After an hour or so, it began to open and soften, allowing the flavors to meld in pleasant ways. Ultimately it became an enjoyable wine. — 13 days ago

Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Red Bordeaux Blend 2014

A really delicious, fairly simple Bordeaux. It has everything you'd expect: leather, tar, tobacco, meat. It won't change your world but it did change my meal for the better. — a month ago

This was lovely. While still a baby, i needed to try this. Big nose after an hour of being open. Luscious mouthfeel but the tannins are tight, as they should be This could be a true gem in 5+ years. — 9 days ago

The best vintage of the 13, 14, 15, 16 vintages I’ve had.

The fruit is stunning. Ripe, ruby, lush yet restrained. The acidity is perfect. Blackberries, strawberries, black cherries, black raspberries, black plum, melted chocolate, beautiful, baking spices, coffee, sweet, soft tarriness, diamond, fine earth and minerals, bright blue, red & purple florals. Acidy is perfect. The structure, tension, length and balance are stunning this early. The well balanced and polish finish is gorgeous and persists nicely.
