Sierra Madre Vineyard

Sandlands

Amador County Chenin Blanc 2021

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of two days. Significantly better on Day 2 as the wine completely opened up. The 2021 Amador County pours a pale yellow color with medium+ viscosity and no signs of particles or gas. On the nose, the wine is clean; developing with notes of golden apples, quince, lemon verbena, white tree flower, lanolin, and wet stone. On the palate, the wine is dry with super sneaky, high acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+ with a woolly texture. Lovely stuff. Drink now with patience and a lot of air otherwise better after 2026 and should be great through 2035. — 5 days ago

Bodegas Sierra Cantabria

Colección Privada Rioja Tempranillo 2018

Made in a small town at foot of Sierra Cantabria in the DO. A single variety Tempranillo from 50 year old vines has a deep Ruby red color and aged for 18 months in French and American oak. Aromas of red fruit and spice. On the palate ripe black fruit, fine tannins, well balanced with a medium+ finish ending with fruit, spice and some oak notes. Nice! — 2 months ago

Renaissance Vineyard & Winery

Estate Bottled North Yuba Cabernet Sauvignon 1997

Cherry, plum, soil tones, leather. Gotta remember to pop these every so often because I bought so damn much of this wine and, as long-lived as these bottles are, they won’t last forever. Reliably delicious — 2 months ago

No decanter or nothing for this one I’m just raw dogging it the way it was meant to be.
The nose is so much cherry very bold with a touch of earthiness. I could live in this glass forever just smelling it and be happy.
The palate is powerful and grips like crazy. It has an acidity to it that’s lasts forever. More cherry with cranberry and it has this nice juiciness to it that makes your mouth water after each sip and the finish seems to go on forever. I think I want to marry this wine.

After the wine had been open for a while it developed a black licorice note on the nose and I just can’t get enough of this one.
