Seven Flags Pinot Noir 2014

Low tannin, high acid bright fruit. What I wish Oregon Pinot would do, lose some weight. - at Dean’s — 5 days ago

Bass Phillip

Premium Gippsland Pinot Noir 2013

Light to mid Ruby in appearance - partly transparent. Raspberries, Strawberries and Cherries with spicy notes. A sweeter palate than normal with M+ intensity. Good power and drive. After a few hours still quite sweet. As I said in a previous note grapes obviously picked late to achieve ultra ripeness. Returning later - a dried red. Cherry aroma. — 3 years ago

Seven Hills Winery

Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

Beautiful eucalyptus and rose good on the nose.
More I the body, some more minty tones, exceptional cab fruit, powdery tannins, solidly integrated acidity. Blind tasted you would think this is a Cali valley wine.

Really full bodied wine. Cindy and I really enjoyed this. Purchased in Steamboat Springs. — 6 years ago

Three Saints

Sixty-Seven Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2007

I found this yesterday while organizing my collection and was pleasantly surprised by how well it has held up. The “sixty seven” on the label represents the percentage of cab in this interesting blend. — 6 years ago

Cleto Chiarli

Mention Honorable Vecchia Modena Premium Lambrusco di Sorbara

Quite fun. Refreshing and fruit forward with candied grapefruit and raspberry that are not sweet though. Sprightly. Someone was dancing with limes nearby. A limey backdrop of freshness that makes this good with spicy or savory. I want to re-try with Taco Bell fries when they resurface, in the meantime my veg-fiend self is gobbling my usual gallons of raw cauliflower dipped in Sriracha. Y’all, my food/wine writer life is so glam n lit.
Or not. But the drinks are good and the veggies are your friend.

Henschke

Henry's Seven Barossa Red Blend 2015

Clean, silky flow compare to the usual Barossa: this Henschke is more on the eden valley Cool climate style. Blackberry the primary fruit that pops out with some hits of star anis and cloves, but very subtle. There is also an underlying notes of chalk and flint. Cool climate Rhone valley style than the robust Australia. I would love to try the hill of grace one day. — 8 years ago

Seven Oaks Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon 2022

This wine is exactly what I think of when I think of a California cab, and this is a compliment. Dark fruit off the bat, I got blackberry and black cherry. I also think this is pretty oaky, which is hit or miss for me, but in this case it gave a night light spiciness. Had a fuller body and good structure. Tannins present but smooth. I feel like this would be a good crowd pleaser as it was good and easy drinking. I bet it would be great with some grilled meats. — 4 months ago

Excellent Chardonnay. It is from Oregon- not a place I usually pick Chardonnay from. Lots of oak and fruit. Had with baked chicken. — 6 years ago

Long Shadows Vintners

Pedestal Columbia Valley Merlot 2015

I think I bought about a half dozen of these with the intent they would all last until at least 10 years post vintage. Man was I wrong! This is a really good value Merlot. It is not the best merlot are you will ever experience, but it has A soft front, brambley middle, good acidity, and goes with a variety of foods. Still finishes with a little bit of astringency so I think this one will probably continue evolving over the next five to seven years. Asking for donations to be able to verify that statement ;) — 6 years ago

G Major Seven Study 575 OVX Cabernet Sauvignon

Consumed 01/2020. Received in a shipment but not sure when. I am afraid I have cellared it for too long. The cork broke off and I made a mess getting the cork out so that I could strain it into a decanter. The wine stains are evident on the label.. They use for varietals to make this. At the time that it was released it was phenomenal. But now that I have kept it too long, I would say not as good. I need to drink the rest of it pretty quickly. 14.1% alc/vol. — 7 years ago

Seven Stones Winery (USA)

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

Not ready to go yet. Has all the bones and has great structure, but has a lot of astringency on the finish. Black, purple and blue fruits. Finishes with stiff oak tannin but had a decent amount of black pepper spice on the finish as well. This wine was very pleasant to drink, and by the time I got around to it I think that it had been open for about 3 hours or so which definitely did help. Still, I think the best years of this wine are at least 4-5 years ahead, and think this one will drink well for 10-15 years. — 7 years ago

Vinos de Arganza

Flavium Premium Bierzo Mencía 2008

Deep ruby color with a garnet rim; cherries, strawberries, and something floral on the nose; high acidity; medium plus tannins; tastes like tart cherries, black pepper, pomegranates, and crushed gravel with a long fruity finish. I love this wine! — 2 years ago

Seven Springs Vineyard Chardonnay 2017

Great QPR. Slightly reduced, which I am into style-wise. — 5 years ago

Bass Phillip

Premium Chardonnay 2013

It was interesting to compare this top Australian Chardonnay with the Dry River from New Zealand. A similar age and similar price. Straw yellow plus in colour. The nose is more citric than stone fruit with a note of roasted nuts. On the palate baked lemon with a noticeable saline note. Medium acid. Subtly. different to the Dry River - the Bass Phillip is slightly more fulsome but overall not much in it. I would call it a dead heat at 95 points each. Both are excellent. — 5 years ago

@Ron R When I first started buying Bass Phillip over 20 years ago, Chardonnay was not offered. From memory they’ve been offered for only about 12 years but that’s a guess. The Premium Chardonnay comes from only an acre of vines.

St Innocent Winery

Seven Springs Vineyard Pinot Noir 2002

Grilling some excellent pork chops on a beautiful warm San Diego evening, and my pairing instincts took me to an aged St-I. This from arguably the best Oregon vintage of the 2000’s, it represents perhaps the most Burgundian effort by Mr Vlossak during his “tenure” working the hallowed Seven Springs vineyard. Savory, smoky, brambly, with moderate acidity and tannins, an undertone of grilled herbs, brilliant restrained red fruit, and a hint of brett to round it out. Wine outshined the chop, but all goodness. — 6 years ago

Seven Rings

Oak Knoll District Cabernet Sauvignon 2015

Tasty. Lots of those dark fruit flavors of which I am so fond. Vanilla, black cherry, blackberry, then some spicy raspberry on the finish. A nice little cab to pair with early morning Bucs football from London. Plus, it's a hell of a lot cheaper drinking this on my couch than last weekend at Food & Wine at Epcot. — 7 years ago
