Three cheers for Malbec. I haven’t had a lot of wines from Argentina, and this was a pleasant surprise. Big dark fruit forward. Had some oakiness that translated as vanilla spice. More fruit forward than my onslaught of european wines, and it was overall approachable. Felt like an easy drinking red wine as I didn’t find it super complex, but I have no complaints. — 5 days ago
Although this isn’t a Barolo, I did drink it there. Close enough as it is from Asti, which was about 20 mins down the road. I mean come on. This was great. Dark fruits like black cherries and reminded me of plums with its taste and its tannins. Had some spice and oak that balanced with the fruit nicely. High acidity but still has a lot of body and depth. Tannins were soft but present. Felt like a polished and serious wine that was excellent alongside our “piedmontese” meal. — 5 days ago
This wine has a wild story. It was a white wine from Jura, not a big producer and I think that is why the app is having a hard time finding what it is. The winemakers husband killed himself in the vineyard i think and then she made this as an ode to that night (crazy). It was good and I think other people would really like it as my wine obsessed aunt and uncle did, but for me it was too akin to an albariño. It had that salty and briney taste to it that I just don’t love. We made good friends with the wine guy at this restaurant and I told him all I could taste was green olives and he did validate me and tell me I was right. I think this is a great wine, just not for me, or maybe I was tainted by the story. — 5 days ago
This was my favorite of the roses we had in class. I liked the blanc des noirs of the sparklings the best and now the pinot noir of the roses. I think I might like pinot noir… Still had the cursory rose notes like strawberry and citrus, but I always think that pinot noir offers more complexity and funk. It was refreshing but not to the point of being one note. Solid and reliable. Also will be coming with me to the pool. It is cool that in this class I have gotten to figure out that I like pinot noir in all its forms. — 5 days ago
My dad bought and left this in my apartment. Braved opening it for a steak night, as I am weary to open reds when it is just me drinking because I don’t want to waste any. Safe to say this did not get wasted. I was unfamiliar with Bandols, and this made me a fan. It was everything I love in a red. It was a darker, more structured and intense wine. Dark fruit, but not fruit forward as it had some herbal and earthy notes. Is it gross to say it was almost meaty? Tannins were present but not overbearing. I was raised on big wines and this checked that box. This was perfect with steaks and just great with food overall. Thanks France. — 5 days ago
This was a really nice Nebbiolo. Tasted better being in the region based solely on vibes. Lighter than I expected but still had that classic structure with tart cherry and cranberry up front that I have come to love. Ended with a little floral note like rose maybe and just an overall earthiness. The tannins were definitely present, but not too aggressive, which made it super approachable. Evidently as this bottle did not last long. It felt fresh and a bit young, but in a good way. Great wine paired with great food. — 5 days ago
My inaugural “back to wines within my college budget” bottle. But hey, this was great. Light and easy. Bright red fruit like strawberries and raspberries. Light body and high acidity. Originally bought this to cook with, but remembered I have a box of kirkland signature cab for that purpose, so it was like a surprise. Not very tannic. Good to pop and pour. Change of pace from my heavy reds, but good in its own category. — 5 days ago
The lemonade of wines! I am a big sauvignon blanc fan, but my parents never really drink ones from New Zealand, and this made me wish I had known about it sooner. So refreshing and almost makes you pucker with how tart it is. This wine begs to be drank by the pool. Grapefruit forward, but had a grassy and herbal note that kept it grounded. Clean, acidic and crisp. I would serve this colder than class has taught me to because it is a summer delight. — 5 days ago
Really light and fresh red. My dad is a fan of big, old, funky bordeauxs, so I did not grow up knowing about the existence of these super bright and juicy reds. This one was very light bodied and had red fruit notes. I wrote down cranberry and cherry while I was drinking it, and can taste it again thinking of it. Liked this a lot. High acid with almost no tannin. It was served to us a bit colder than normal for reds, and I think that complemented it well. — 5 days ago

This wine is exactly what I think of when I think of a California cab, and this is a compliment. Dark fruit off the bat, I got blackberry and black cherry. I also think this is pretty oaky, which is hit or miss for me, but in this case it gave a night light spiciness. Had a fuller body and good structure. Tannins present but smooth. I feel like this would be a good crowd pleaser as it was good and easy drinking. I bet it would be great with some grilled meats. — 5 days ago
