Stunning. Dauvissat perfection. 2012 Clos is perfect tonight, with more fruit definition than Preuses as expected from the site. It’s textural, chiseled and powerful with Chablisen oyster shell minerality layered in a tidal wave of spiced orchard fruit and white flowers. It’s incredibly silky on the palate showing killer volume and density with racy citrusy acids and a sea spray-like salinity to round it out. When Dauvissat is on it’s hard to beat. Medium lemon yellow , though within expectations for a 22 year old white Burgundy . Touches of smoky butter , lemon peel, red apple , ginger, chalky with wet stones and a touch of hazelnut . Complex , open and inviting on the nose , some development but still quite fresh and lively . On the palate this is intense with good grip , again showing the freshness from the nose , lemon peel , chalky , touch of white peach, sea breeze and lightly toasty finish . Long refreshing, mineral tinged finish . Perfect now , though benefits from air , becoming more mineral and focused with time and will continues to show well over the next 5 -8 years , maybe longer . — 4 months ago

Founded in 1982 by Koerner and Joan Rombauer and sits on a tree covered knoll overlooking the Napa Valley, with caves that extend for over a mile. Pale lemon color with aromas of stone and tropical fruit, sweet oak, spice and floral scents. On the palate flavors of ripe peach, melon and apple, with vanilla spice, creamy texture. Medium+ finish, well balanced with acidity, ending with mineral notes. — 3 months ago
