There is an irony thing in the nose along with violet and rose petals and cherry and a bit of black pepper. This is the nose I fell in love with 10 years ago. The palate is very well designed with a strong acid backbone, a very nice round and radiating fruit, a bit of a sweet touch, some nice oily, scratchy tannins which kick things up for a rather long finish with that fruit, pepper and a long lasting floral aftertaste. So great. This is 7 Euro when you buy it from the winery directly and it's 15 kilometers from where I am right now 😍 — 6 years ago
The 2010 Esprit de Beaucastel from Tablas Creek was a tough act to follow, but this elegant Rhône blend from Sonoma just did that.
The nose was quite similar with aroma of blue fruits and earthy elements with hint of violet, it was the palate that set it apart: soft, complex and deep, with great texture and beautiful acidity that adds the tension. Elegant and seamless.
Kale Anderson was the long time wine maker at Pahlmeyer, and Kale wines are all vineyard-specific. Worth seeking out. — 7 years ago
Discreet nose of garrigue, olive, blackberry, pepper. The palate is very fresh with a splendid balance between a rather strong acid backbone and fruit and matter on the sides. Some tannins to kick things up and a fresh finish with fruit. Very lovely. Definitely the kind of Languedoc stuff I want to sip on regularly. — 7 years ago

Sweet and Smokey. Loved this. Perfect mix of ripe dark fruits and kick. Great length. Half bottle. Awesome! — 8 months ago
Lovely! 2018 opened April 2024. Delicate nose: fresh leather and a hint of sage. Bright red fruit on the front that’s balanced by mineral astringency (which is unusual on the front of the palate).Full tannic structure with a silky mouthfeel. The low notes are citrusy — i detect oranges (which is strange because I’d normally think of citrus as high on the high side of the taste spectrum). A slightly different variety of of high notes kick in before it reaches the back of the palate, but they fade on the finish leaving that wonderful silky smooth feel on the back of the throat. Not a particularl long finish, thought. I would have given it a 10 except that the finish wasn’t long enough — and I wanted more! This a unique and wonderful wine. — 2 years ago
Always represents its self well against the Cali Cult Cabs!!!’ Had the Cœur De Vallée Cab, cause I broke the Passionnent in the decanter 10-minutes before kick off, a sad a moment! It stood up to Harlan’s Promontory, Scarecrow, Rudd, & and 04 Insignia. Again a true expression@of Oakville terroir to bad we couldn’t compare a Screaming Eagle. — 7 years ago

Deep ruby color. Aromas of strawberry, huckleberry and black currant. Nicely balanced and well worth the price.
