Tar, black currant, cedar, tobacco, a bit of heat too. The palate is very nice with a velvety texture all along. A good acid backbone, a bright black fruit, a milky mouthfeel with a bit of weight on the sides, some gentle tannins rolling in mid palate and a long fruity finish with that milky mouthfeel. It's not very complex but it's well crafted. It's difficult to place in côtes de bourg though as this very generic. — 2 days ago
Cave des grands crus blancs Pouilly Loché guiblets 2018
Lemon and hay on the nose with some herbal, flowery touch too. The palate is very much acid driven, with a layer of butter and lemon. Good grip and a bit of bitterness in the end. Good not great but nice — 3 days ago
Mas Amiel Pur Schiste bio - Côtes du Roussion 2018
Strawberry jam, blackberry, black pepper, garrigue, licorice. What a nose for such a low price wine! The palate is well balanced with strong acids, a bright fruit with blackberry mostly, some width, some nice tannins with a grain, and a lot of freshness and fruit on the finish which lasts for ever. This is seriously good for the price tag (less than 10 €) — 11 days ago
Almond and cherry on the nose, this is very fruity. The palate is rather thin with a strong acid drive and no thickness on the sides. There is a good grip and some fruit and some drying tannins. The finish is very dry yet displays some fruit to make it easy. This is not complex, but it's sippable. — 16 days ago
A fully soaked cork made me very anxious upon opening this bottle to be paired with a bœuf bourguignon that I spent the whole morning preparing.
Upon opening there's a bit of wet carton and wet forest soil scent. Uh oh. After a while the carton smell goes away but the mushroom, wet forest soil and mostly tertiary aromas are predominant. It looks like this wine aged too fast. The palate is showing a strong acid backbone with very limited cherry notes on the side, there is a good width with some matter on the sides, gentle tannins with a bit of a drying effect and a rather long finish with a bit of heat, some menthol, a bit of cherry and a hint of raspberries. It's not showing great at this point and I fear that my other bottles might experience the same. — 2 days ago
Passiamo Primitivo Salento non vintage
Gun powder, pencil lead, caramel, blackberry. This is a strange nose. The palate is very round, almost sweet, with some acids but balanced by a nice sweetness and a bright fruit. There is a bit of a milky thing too which makes it all soft, without edges. No tannins to speak of so the palate is rather linear and no asperity neither. A quick fruity finish closes down this one. Well, this is not my stuff. The label reads semi-sweet, I understand why... They should put a warning on the label about strong headache hazards here 😂😂😂 — 10 days ago
Michel Goubard & fils Givry 1er cru 2017
It's been a long time since I last had such a good cote chalonnaise pinot...
Cherry, some mineral thing like pencil lead, hay, wet soil. This is intense and so good. The palate is so good! Strong acid drive, a good width with a nice tangy fruit, some weigth and a nice silky touch on the sides, some tannins with that dusty/drying effect, a bright and shinning cherry then explodes all over the finish which lasts for ever. This is so good! — 11 days ago
Meat juice, blackcurrant, a bit of heat too. The palate is quite impressive with a very large scope, some width, some thickness on the sides, a bit of a meat juice note and blackcurrant all around. Gentle tannins and a long finish with leat juice, a bit of salt and some bitterness and cocoa, milky notes. That's a great effort, even more so considering the price tag. — 3 days ago
It's rather mineral on the nose : limestone, crushed oyster shells and there is a hint of lemon and some whiter flower. The palate is very well balanced. There is a strong acid backbone, some sitckyness/thickness on the sides. Some nice lemony notes carry on throughout the whole palate end during a fresh and almost flowery finish. Fresh, fun, not fancy but very fine. — 3 days ago
The nose is a bit mute right now but I smell some almond, some cherry, a bit of leather (?) and there's a bit of heat coming up after a while. The palate is very delicate and rather smooth. I was anticipating a bit more dryness. Nice fruit along a strong acid backbone, very nice velvety touch on the sides, velvety tannins with a very gentle drying effect, very long finish with cherry and a bit of coffee underlined by these velvety, gently drying tannins. This is a bit surprising but pleasant. I would never have located it rightly blind. — 10 days ago
