🥰🥂 — 2 days ago
Pop and pour, bc I was hoping that lightning might strike twice (Ron Hextall, anyone, anyone?). So close (geographically) to the charme aux prêtres, but so different...still very good. On the nose:.much darker, with more plum and a touch of black raspberry, but still the signature house spice. On the palate: blackberry, cinnamon, allspice, fantastic acidity and density...soft tannin on the spicy finish. — 10 days ago
An old friend, whom I am ecstatic to find again. Basically a Burgundy estate that was exiled from Chablis & is part of Côte d’Auxerre. Concentrated green fruits, lithe, delicate & powerful all at once. The balance is remarkable-I can’t imagine a better QPR. Polaner importer. — 13 days ago
American geography ignoramus that I am, little did I know that the Northernmost tip of the Rhone- Cote Rotie- is the kissing cousin of Beaujolais. St. Amour is more midpoint, but has that great granite terroir which makes this long standing Cru Bojo (& under 20$) a perennial fave. It’s that mineral tautness I love. — 2 days ago
@Delectable Wine this is Bruno Clair Marsannay "La Charme Aux Prêtres", which I didn't find in search.
Pop and pour. Could have waited til.next.year based on the NM tasting note, but would be missing out. On the nose: omg, I have been missing this purity: dense, sweet wild strawberry, soft plum, cinnamon spice, soft leafy notes. On the palate: fantastic acidity, strawberry, spice, soft plum. Attenuated tannin on the finish. Absolutely lovely. — 11 days ago
Deep nose of ripe plum, cassis, blackberry, cedar, dark roasted coffee beans, herbal spices, hint of cigar box and violet. Warm and soft lightly extracted dark fruits lead the initial attack. Dense yet smooth with impeccable balance. Full of energy. Firm polished tannins. The pairing of 14 days dry age Rohan duck was magnificent.
Immensely powerful with old world charm and grace, this 10’ Saint Julian earns a perfect score from WE, and I think it’s deservedly so. — 5 days ago
Very well balanced wine . Great citrus, fruit and a touch of cream on the finish — 22 days ago
Located to the east of the village of Saint-Émilion, on one of the high points of the appellation and it extends over 20 hectares. Ch was promoted to "Saint-Emilion Grand cru classé" in 2006. A blend of 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. Dark Ruby with ripe fruit aromas & herb notes. On the palate black cherry & raspberry, currant-like, with tobacco & cacao notes. Dusty fine tannins, long finish ending with earthy mineral tones, drinking fine now! — 8 days ago
