I can’t overstate my love for the Cordier stable in the 1980s and this reinforces that passion. From a 375 ml bottle in a Gabriel Glas Gold, savory leather and a streak of mint play off brooding dark currant to deliver fine depth. It initially seemed a little dilute, but 30 minutes of air brought out the fine tannin and acidic structure it needed to frame the flavors. While fine on its own, it really took off when paired with a prime ribeye. A terrific final red for this challenging year. — 5 years ago
1989 Vega Sicilia Unico. Date night at Il P. Decanted, strained through cheesecloth, and drank about an hour later. Awesome. Classic Unico flavors. Love this wine. — 6 years ago
Wine bears vineyard named to honor the Red-shouldered Hawks & other birds of prey that play a vital role in sustainable farming practices. Golden with aromas of tropical fruits and sweet floral scents. Aged for 14 months, 75% in new French oak and 25% in stainless. A rich Chard, the palate shows sweet melon, pineapple and peach flavors and citrus notes, subtle yet complex and well balanced. Lingering finish, savory, ending with mineral tones and creamy toasty oak. Outstanding! — 7 years ago

Black cherry, blackberry and fig preserves, with chocolate, cigar box and a violet note. — 7 months ago
A gorgeous open knit wine. Soft edges of cherry and play dough and a deep cote of intense fruit with iron, dark plum. On the palate there’s blueberry and a s steeled minerality- the tannins are resolved and this is super intense and delicious with a beautiful balance. Long. Really good — 3 years ago
Likely one of the best bottles of wine to date. Lots of fruit and body. Great nose. Couldn’t have been better. — 7 years ago

📝 I say Musar is always better with 15-25 years age but this 8 year baby is quite gluggable

Pizza and a date — 7 months ago
Could do with more time in the bottle but it's a special occasion afterall. Noses rose petals, vanilla, leather, capsicum and tobacco, black fruits and pencil shavings....and date I say onions! Huge body. Palate is savoury yet so layered and structured. Dark chocolates galore with a generous scatter of sea salt. Harmonious! Precise! — 7 months ago
Two beers with two years past due date, this is when it starts to express its complexity. Love this! — 4 years ago
Fantastic wine. Date night w boo. — 6 years ago
Decanted for three hours and immediately described as “universally appealing”, this is not only the WOTN but my WOTY. Utterly perfect, except perhaps enjoyed ever-so-slightly too soon. Remarkable winemaking. Concentrated flavour profile of cherry, strawberry, chocolate, violets, and very minimal earthy tones. Still on the upswing and not fully mature, despite the pleasure it was. Medium plus body, medium acidity. Extremely long. Possibly the best wine I’ve tasted to date. Can’t wait to try a “good” year. — 6 years ago
Just beginning to get to the drinkable age with tannins starting to soften and mellow. The wine is still quite rigid though the balance has come back into play. BlackBerry and plums finish with green bell peppers and spicy peppercorns. Five more years and it’ll be great. — 8 years ago

[40% Grenache, 30% Syrah, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon] Jonathan and Susan’s homage to Priorat, red and black fruits from the Grenache and Syrah, respectively, and then the structure of the Cabernet Sauvignon, this is drinking well tonight, but might evolve for a few more years, very fine Sierra Foothills Priorat look-alike!! — 2 months ago
