Pierre Gonon

Saint-Joseph Syrah 2023

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a few hours. The 2023 pours a ruby/purple color with a near opaque core; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with an explosion of smoked blackberry pie, purple flowers, bacon fat, olive, black pepper, and subtle warm spices. On the palate the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium acid. Confirming the notes from the nose however, the wine finishes much more elegant than the nose would suggest. The bouquet might lead one to think this is possibly over the top. However, on the palate, it was far more elegant. Another vintage, another stunning Gonon. Drink now through 2043. — 10 days ago

Aux Serpentières Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2020

Fruit forward with a nice earthy, barn-y, fried herb backbone! Very lush and unapologetic, ten years more in the bottle should help it integrate. — a month ago

My first of the 2023’s. Really spectacular. Pours a medium yellow with some viscosity. On the nose such purity. Lemon pith, white flowers, mixed citrus, high toned and pure, the palate is silky like crème brûlée but with a lightness; beautiful oak framing. I think I’m a Brissett junky. The winemaking highlights everything I love about Chardonnay. @Lyle Fass — 3 days ago

Grand Cru Delos Brut Blanc de Blancs Chardonnay

Balanced, round, rich and creamy with a nice underlying cut of minerality. This is broad and inviting. More complexity from process than site. Tasty, fun, pleasant. — a month ago

Welcoming the Holiday Season ⛄️❄️🎅🎁 Cheers!🥂

Previous notes apply except this tastes sweeter now that I have fully shifted to Extra Brut. Pre EB purchase. Also, EB in 375’s are more difficult to locate.

The balance will be really good w/ Key Lime Tart later! 🍋‍🟩

Grand Siècle Grande Cuvée Champagne Blend

aromas are so complex with sliced fresh and dried ginger, subtle pie crust, tarte tatin and hints of nutmeg with some salted caramel. Toasted bread, too. Always subtle. The palate is full- to medium-bodied yet hemmed-in with a freshness and balance that draws you back. Savory and vibrant — 3 days ago

Consistency is their middle name.

This has just started to shift from fresh to aging.

Bruised red apple/pear, lemon, lime zest, tropical melons, drier stone fruits, whipped cream, ginger, brioche, graham cracker, very light caramel/butterscotch notes, grey volcanics, limestone marl, sea fossils, gritty chalk, white & yellow flowers with greens, excellent lively acidity and a well balanced-knitted, elegant & smartly polished finish that lasts near two-minutes.
