Beaune Clos du Dessus des Marconnets Pinot Noir 2023

From a tiny, walled Monopole of the estate. Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of an hour. The Clos du Dessus des Marconnets (Pernot) pours a ruby color with a transparent core; medium viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with a mix of tart and ripe mostly red fruit: strawberry, raspberry, cherry, red flowers, green herbs, some forest floor and subtle warm spices. On the palate, wine is dry with medium tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium. A lovely and utterly classic expression of Bourgogne Rouge. Drink now through 2033+. — 7 days ago

Chalumaux Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Chardonnay 2023

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of an hour. The 2023 1er Chalumaux pours a straw color with medium viscosity. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of ripe and tart orchard and tropical fruit: yellow apple, white peach, orange Cuties®️, pineapple, starfruit, lemon curd, white flowers, slivered almonds, and river rock. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+ and laden with minerals. Lovely balance. Classic. Drink now through 2043. — 7 days ago

Héritage Moulin-à-Vent Gamay 2021

Vintage 2021 | I love the impressive smell full of wonderfull red fruit, that expresses itself like a peacock 🦚 tail, really great. After experiencing the smell the taste underperforms imo. It’s a bit small, high bitters > so an dinnerwine. Very interesting wine from 80 y old vines. — 4 months ago

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhône Blend 2003

Drinking the 2003 in 2025. Light ruby color. Rich bouquet, with lots of toasted oak, deep dark ripe fruit and an earthy finish. High alcohol!! Very smooth flavors, wonderful wine !! — a month ago

Les Folatières Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Chardonnay 2020

I felt this was a bit shutdown. Flavorful, but the fruit seemed pinched or tight. Should be better in 3-5 years. — 9 months ago

2 different bottles of the same wine. One from an East Coast Importer and one from the West. The one from the East Coast Importer was more fresh and expressive. — 2 years ago
